When I do a cold start, it's more noticeable. It's coming from the driver side front engine bay. Sort of sounds like a high pitched gas leak. Ever since I heard it, whenever I shift into D, it makes a crunch noise. It also makes the crunch noise when I park into a parking spot and i stop. just a crunch noise that makes me squinch. Are these two related? Is my car dying?

Can't really interpret what you mean by crunch noise.. but the hissing could just be a vacuum leak... open the hood and try to see where it is coming from...not trying to state the obvious here but we do need more information before we can really provide you any worthwhile help.

i really cant explain the noise either. The best I can describe the 'crunch noise' is say with hardwood floor steps. Sometimes they get of age and the supports go bad and the wood board makes a crunchy noise.
This noise is made whenever I go from N to D. and when I go to park ...right when I make a complete stop, it makes that noise.

99 gle with 84k (bought at 81k)... brakes done at 63k, oil changes every 3k on the dot, thats pretty much all i know. blown knock and o2 sensors... going to get plugs, all filters, and tranny flush very soon. only additives I used were two Redline products, Water Wetter and the Fuel system cleaner and running mobil premium ever since. and a transmission treatment that was a temporary solution to a tranny flush (i was broke). thing cost me 18 bucks. didn't do a damn thing after 50 miles of driving.
