Steering Abnormality

Hopefully someone can answer my question. I have a 95 Maxima with an automatic transmission. The car already pulls to the right, but recently, it started pulling to the right way differently than normal. It's very hard to describe exactly what's happening, but I'll try. It happens when I first pull off from a stop, right about the time it's about to change into 2nd gear. It pulls right and I have to steer left, but the steering wheel feels like it's not quite catching, almost like the car is sliding on ice, but it's not really sliding. Or maybe like the big steering wheels on ships, where you steer and steer and finally the boat starts moving. It's real weird, and it only lasts for a second or two. But I'd really like to know what's going on so I can get this fixed.

Thanks
TTime

i have a similar problem cause me alignment is totally off and the steering response is lacking mine pulls left but sometimes right if i steer too far... i think it's my front wheel bearing. and need another alignment because of my camber bolt. need to check my torque spec on that.

Welcome to the wonderful world of powerful engines. That's torque steer and is normal. It happens because one axle is a different length than the other. Just to make sure though, accelerate VERY slowly and see...if it doesn't do it, then torque steer confirmed. I didn't notice this until it was commented on by somebody else on the boards, but a front strut tower bar helps with this problem. A cheap ebay one will work just as well as the expensive stillen etc ones.
