when i dont have enough braking room in sudden stops i use it to help me slow down, cuz my front pads are dying. also use it in park.
no point in trying to "drift" a fwd car. it just doesnt work that way. plus i think its kinda lame but hey, do what you want.

While it can be fun at first pulling your ebrake to slide is a bad habbit it puts way too much stress on the front tires and from expiernce it sucks because now my 3rd gen has a ripped cv boot and my ebrake cable is cause the rears to stay on a lil and grind when I drive....I shoulda just got a 240sx and saved myself this trouble. fwd cars aren't ment to spin.
i use the ebrake sometimes.. when im lonely... and its late and summer time in the college parking lot...and its raining.. there are not parking bumps so its fun to spin around a few 4 or 5 times goin 45 haha...
but then again i like to go 130 b4 rush hour just to weave on the freeway.. and NO im not racing anyone.. just driving
im a nut...but one thing to keep in mind with the max is that sometimes the rear pads re adjust themselves too tightly when you ebrake slide alot.. and you will get noisy rear brakes...you can fix this by just screwing the caliper piston back in on the rear a bit.. and yankin up and down on the ebrake a few times to re adjust itself properly...
thats what i had to do...

It's not an "emergency brake." It's a "parking brake."
It's there to hold the car when parked, not slow the car in an emergency.
I usually don't use it but I used it a lot for a few days when my car was in for repair........hihihi thats because I had a replacement car (sentra 04) for these days and lets say I had a lot of fun with it. E-brake was almost applied at every turn and it was in winter time so I couldn't keep myself from doing it.
When I was a kid we used to do this all the time in a wide open parking lot. We used to call it tray sliding. Follow these instructions are you can have alot of fun without damaging your rear tires.
1st, Collect several service trays from various fast food places. "In & Out burger trays seem to last the longest"
2nd, Use a glue or epoxy to glue atleast 3 trays together for each tire. 6 trays total.
"Stack the trays so they are thicker"
3rd, Find a open parking lot & drive your vehicle so your rear tires are up on the trays & set your parking brake.
4th, Have fun!
P.S.
No snow required with this set up!!!

I may be wrong, but if the master cylinder decided to totally crap out on you, the emergency brake would help you come to a stop quicker than coasting, you could lock your rear wheels if you pull it up high enough.
That said, I use my ebrake everytime I park, and once in a while when the road is snowcovered ill play around in a a well paved parking lot. Never just when driving around the neighborhood.

this winter my friends and I got a townhouse at bretton woods for 3 days and all of no. conway was under tons of snow. It was so much fun driving around up there, I volunteered to drive to the stores/restaraunts everytime we left. I would do reverse 180's everytime I pulled out of a space.
gotta love having a 5 speed in northern NH
the only time i've used my parking brake while driving was in the 04 camry rental i had when my max was in the body shop. it was fun... WEEEEEEEEEEE!
i'm a very responsible driver, but when you have a rental, there is an unwritten law that states you have to beat the crap out of it. by the way, i am a very skilled fwd drifter

I use my E-brake every day when I park (5 speed) I used to live in Maryland so I would hit up the snow covered lots whenever possible, and I have used it to drift around tight corneres, and it works, so all you haters can eat my brake dust. biatch. I used to do some serious brake checks going 45 on rental cars. Economy tires are loud and smokey! Gotta love 'em for that.

I was saying that it is hard on your car to be jolted to a stop by the "parking brake." Also, when you let off of the brake, and you have gotten sideways, it is hard on your suspension when it jerks back to the grip of the tire.
That is why I only do it when it rains.
You just slide....no jerking....(kind of like in the snow).
**NOTE: I pay too much for my tires. Mommy & Daddy don't buy my stuff. For that reason, I cannot justify ruining a set of tires by putting bald spots on them.
