Maxima Won't Start!!!

Ok so imma sitting them changing out my old fog lamps with the new ones. I get one installed and try my PIAA that wasn't working before....turn the car to on and don't actually start it. The light doesn't come on....so i figure ok ok the bulb is burnt out because the other one works fine. So I put in the factory bulb that the new fog lamps came with.....go to start the car and it won't turn over. It just sits there and goes CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK like 8 times...the interior dash lights are way dim and then they suddenly brighten up....

I just got a new knock sen. installed today at the dealer....u think they coulda fuked with my alternator or something or could it somehow be the fog lamp??

I really doubt its the battery but even though the dash lights come on and courtesy door lights the headlights won't even turn on AT ALL......

Anyone had these symptoms before??

Also to add I just recently had the starter replaced by the dealer....I really doubt it is that seeing how the headlights won't even turn on though....

How much did the dealer charge you to replace your Knock Sensor?

i doubt it but anything is worth a try. If you took off your battery terminals to be a good and safe worker [lol, like i did], make sure they are nice and snug back on the terminals. when i worked on my car, the terminal was still loose and the car would click [ i had the same symptoms as u] and i tightened the terminal and it started. i had the int. lights come on and dim just like u had. so give it a shot and get back to us.

That price is actually reasonable, not free, but not bad. I am stomped at what could be cuasing your car not to start. I will look in my Haynes manual to see what those symptoms point to.

Just to make sure its not the starter, get something and tap on it. Even though it came from the dealer doesnt mean it cant be faulty.

maybe the same tech that left his tools in your engine bay hooked up your battery terminals up backwards then realized the problem and switched them back. that could cause the problems you are having now...

ahhhhhh i bet i know what it is! i had the same da*n thing, check the security light, if u try to start it and after you try, it stays on, its the vehicle immobliser system. is you key in good shape? like is the base of the key good, like no chips or anything like that. i had the same problem. theres a computer chip in the key, and if it gets damaged, you cant start the car, its a security feature. i had to take mine to the dealer and have them make me a new key. you have to take it to the dealer so they can program the chip in the key to match up with your ecu. at least that was what happened with my car just a few days ago. hope this helps.

thanks jon but i got it jumped and it runs but I can't turn the lights on so it definately isnt the key.

Imma say it is either:

1) A bad starter that is draining the battery very badly

2)Alternator

BTW when they did the knock sensor install they never unhooked the battery cause my presets were all the same plus my trip gauge was at 34 and it was like 33.7 when I brought it in......Im really hopin it is the starter since it is still warranted but either way they are gonna pay cause who the hell leave a knock sensor and a tool just sitting in the engine bay......that coulda caused some serious damage if I took a sharp turn and those things got loose....................
