Brake pads, which to get?

Looking to replace my front brakes pretty soon. I'm looking for daily-driver performance, minimal dust & decent longevity.

Aside from the hardware kit (shims, etc.) I can't decide which pads to go with. Raybestos Quietstops? Axis Metalmasters? Hawk HPS? EBC? Akebono? Too many choices, and I can't search the ORG yet for previous discussions.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks much,
TOM

rabestos seem to be pretty good, mine have held up for about 8 months so far, but they are making some noise when i feather the brakes, probably just need cleaned though.

very little dust. and will lock up your tires in no time

Ack, I akready had your site bookmarked but didn't bother to look again. Your site should be a sticky (unless it already is.) Excellent breakdown - Looks like the Quietstops are going to be the winners.

Thanks,
TOM

Are these performance pads or like stock. I don't want pads that will wear out my rotors, I'll be ordering Brembo Drilled/Slotted Rotors. I was gonna buy OEM pads.

Axxis pads are better than OEM once they have heat in them, when cold they blow. They squeel sometimes on and off. I made them smoke the other week, still had decent stopping performance and will dust when you're hard on them, but in regular street driving they hardly dust. I used them with Brembo X-drilled and CAD plated. Appear to be holding up really well to wear and don't eat away at the rotors.

Whatever some people may tell you dont think Raybestos QS as performance pads because theyre anything but! Yes they are nice because they are low dusting and they are slightly quieter when compared to stock. However if you seriously get on them (multiple moderate to hard stops) they will fade faster than stock pads. I've had QSs for about 6 mos now and there are still meat left in the pads but I'm going back to Axxis (had metal masters; bought Ultimates this time). I'd trade a little more noise/dusting for performance. If I had to choose between Raybestos QS & stock I'd take stock.

Axxis Ultimates

i've had the OEM Nissan Pads, which I hated because they squealed so much. I also tried the Axxis Metal Masters. I didn't like those because they had no bite when they were cold. I've tried the Performance Friction Carbon Mettallic Pads as well. They were ok, didn't like the performance that much. They didn't bite so hard and the dust was a pain to get off the rims. BUT, I'VE FINALLY FOUND THE BEST PADS EVER FOR MY MAXIMA!!! The Axxis Ultimates are amazing. They have a great intial bite cold or hot and have a high friction coefficient. I have so much more braking confidence with these pads. The braking feel noticebly stronger and shorter than with my old pads. They dust like most pads, but it cleans off pretty easily. I would highly recommend these pads to all of you. Has anyone else tried these pads on their Max? I'm curious to see if you have had the same experience with these pads as I've had.
