NEW TRANNY""""Help""""

Ok well i have a 96 maxima se and I took it in today and they said that I need to have my manual transmission rebuilt. It only has 104,000 miles on it so who knows what is wrong. They said a gear is broke inside and they will have to rebuild it costing 2700. Where can i get a rebuilt tranny for much cheaper because I am not going to spend that much. I see some on ebay for like 800. what are those. Please guys help me out.

A buddy just got his tranny rebuilt for half of that. Of course we're in chicago. Might want to ask this in the regional forums.

that's an inflated price, even for a tranny rebuild (which is more expensive that a straight swap). Ask them how much a swap is - up here in Canada one of the local nissan dealerships quoted me $1500 for a rebuild including labor, $1000 for a swap.

Well

Well I just got off phone they they said that is the swap. It is a rebuilded swap. So they are not even rebuilding my tranny just putting in another rebuilt one. Man this is crazy. That is also including clutch. But i can do all of that myself. URG....
