Help!!! Transmission Leak & Wisp of Smoke

Well, my car has 163K miles on it and it developed a substantial transmission fluid leak (@ pan gasket and @ housing to the rear of pan). I was replacing 1 qt of fluid every 4 days and then used Bar's Stop Leak. My transmission is no longer leaking, but on the way home I noticed a wisp of white smoke coming from the steering column (behind the airbag). I pulled over, checked all fluid levels (transmission was OK) but I had oil all over the dipstick when I pulled it. I cleaned and reinserted the dipstick with the same result (oil is dripping off of it). I need some suggestions as to the cause of these symptoms. The car is well maintained and it is used as a daily commuter. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does anyone have some insight? I still can't figure out the smoke? Thanks.

OK, transmission leak solved (temporarily) and oil level is normal, but what about that smoke? Does anyone have a clue?

All of my electrical accessories work and there is no fuse damage. The only other things I have in the car are a phone charger and a BEL 985.

Waiting for help...

Thanks.

The last thread I read regarding smoke from the steering colum wound up being the directional signal switch burning up.

I think if you go to www.motorvate.ca and look under smoke in the car you'll see what caused it.
