Modifying B&M short shift?

Modifying B&M short shift?
The B&M short shift sits way to far forward for my taste. In 1st/3rd/5th your knuckles are practically hitting the console and 2nd/4th/Rev the shifter is centered. Has anyone tried bending the shifter so it sits farther back?
