New to the .org with a few Q's

Hey guys, new to the org. I've got a 97 SE 5spd and I've got 2 problems I hope can get answered. I've got a whine coming from the driver's side front when I'm slowing to a stop. It doesn't matter if I'm braking or not and only happens on really hot days (not many in Maine, hah). Could it be a bushing going? I haven't seen a decrease in mileage at all so I don't think my brakes are rubbing.
The other thing is my clutch has developed a squeek when I press it. The car has 130K on it. Throw out bearing? Or maybe just needs some grease? How could I check and if it is just the grease thing is it a DIY job?
Real quick- paint calipers? yes, no? too ricey?
Ordered frankencar intake. Am I looking at a loooong wait?

Thanks,
Dan

I have a '97 5speed which had 49k last november and up to 63k now. The squeaky clutch thing, yea, we all feel that. There was a post awhile ago about someone pin pointing the problem, and it's a spot that needs grease... But if I recall correctly its deep inside the workings of the clutch system. I just live with it myself.

As for the calipers, next brake job I do I'm painting mine, but I'm doing mine black. I don't think it will look ricey, and I'm probably the only one that will notice it too

Thanks. I guess I'll have to live with it too. The clutch still feels strong. Not slipping and engages early. As for the calipers, I'm thinking red but I guess if I don't like it I could paint over in black later? Any idea on the whine thing?

you decide how they look... I like the way the red matches his SE-L.

Maybe bad wheel bearing.. That would be my guess from your symptoms..
