button under hood release?

I kind of noticed this long time ago but I never remembered to ask. So what is this? I pressed it and it does nothing (lol not sure if it was a good idea or not).

Are you talking about the black plastic boot button that sticks up that is depressed by the hood when shut?? If so, then that is for the alarm so that if the hood is opened when the alarm is armed then it will go off.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm on it, it might be from that.

just wondering if your car has an aftermarket alarm? if it does. that button may be part of the system, to turn the alarm off/on.

OH.. ok, I feel stupid i didn't even know that.

Well thanks.

well since 2 years ago my alarm didn't even work. So I still haven't figured out what that button does. The only time I can make it go off is if I set it off manualy. sad indeed.

There is a pin over there with my viper alarm, so if the hood is up the car wont start with my remote start. When the hood is down that pushes the button down and allows the remote start to work.
