I was drivin home from work and a Toyota MR2 spyder pulled up to me and started revvin his engine, we were turning onto a road that was pretty empty and straight for about a mile. So we turned and then gunned it As I hit 80 I was about 4.5 car lengths ahead of him. It was sweet, It just feels good to win. Especially when I was challenged, it was him that wanted to race. I know they only have 138hp but they are supposed to do 0-60 in 7.3 Just thought id share this little tale. My 97 SE is an Auto, he was in the 5spd. Anyone else ever raced and MR2?

I don't think they're that fast stock. A Maxima should win easily, if based on the numbers. I don't like the new MR2 Spyder. They are no where near the performance of the old MR2 Turbo. Now, that was a sweet car.

I agree, I dont like the MR2's either. Never really have. There not really fast and they are tiny. Just my opinion.

well, the only good Toyota was the Supra

The Supra turbo that is. I've never really liked Toyota's sports cars. But i've heard the MR 2 is the most fun to drive.

I used to be undecided about the new MR2, until I got in one at the auto show a couple of months ago. It was way too small - so small that it gave me a groin pull trying to get out... to me, that's a sign to not like a car...

Well, of course the MKIV turbo Supra was the best Toyota had. However, I can tell you from first hand experience that the turbo MR2 was fast and fun. That was if you tuned it right. I wouldn't mind getting one. Heck more cheaper to get than a MKIV turbo Supra.

I saw in one magazine that the new MR2 Spyder did 0-60 in the high 6's--of course, that same magazine had the Spyder's 1/4-mile time in the high 15's, so I guess that means it's quick at the start, then dies out.....
