I finally decided to get tint for my car... I’m getting 5% on the rear passenger windows, rear window, and moon roof. For the front doors, I'm getting 13 %, and contemplating the idea of putting 75% tint on the front windshield.

Anybody with this tint set up chime in..

 

I have ~15% on sunroof an 35% on the rest of the car (besides the windshield)... personnally I like the lighter tints... 1) the inside of your car won't be a tomb and 2) the cops won't bother u and 3) makes a contrast but not a stark one that looks over the top. dont get windshield tint u will regret it during the nighttime

 

75% is so light it's not worth the cost of the film. 50% is pretty damn light and that's what I'd suggest if you really want the windshield tinted.

Personally I'd go with 15% all around and leave the windshield untinted. Even if the front and rear side windows are tinted the same, the front looks lighter because of the light coming in the windshield, so with what you propose the back will definiely look darker than the front and that looks silly IMO.

 

I have 5% on my rear window and rear side windows and 15% on my front side windows... I love the way it looks, the fronts look very very slightly lighter when the sun shines in through the windshield.

BTW 1FSTMAX... I remember I put up a post on quieting down my car and didnt know whether to go with a glass pack or perforated core type resonator... I went with the resonator like you said and man does it sound good now

 

Thanks for your input ... I just want a dark tint, since I have a light interior car.. I'm still deciding on the front windshield..

 

Glasspacks are cheap IMO.. Good thing you went with a perforated core.. Doesn't rob as much power as a glasspack..

 

from what they told me, if cops find out about the front windshield, immediate impound. thats what a shop told me. Anyways I have 35% all around

I would go with 20%, 15% - and leave the moonroof and winshield alone. I have seen a few pics of moonroofs that shattered because of tint in very hot weather.

 

Personally I don't like the 5%, looks pitch black. I say 15-20% is good. I got some super light tint compared to most of you.. but I'm content with it (VA law 50/35).

 

i had 35% all around...but i got pulled over about couple months ago with illegal front windows tint + no front license plate. gay CA laws

 

i wouldnt worry about tinting the windshield.....thats just asking for trouble

 

oh my goodness when I was in europe this summer, people had like 35% tint on their winshields...it looked soooo nice it made me want to get it, but I wont cuz I know that wont fly here down in VA/DC/MD.

26710. It is unlawful to operate any motor vehicle upon a highway
when the windshield or rear window is in such a defective condition
as to impair the driver's vision either to the front or rear.
In the event any windshield or rear window fails to comply with
this code the officer making the inspection shall direct the driver
to make the windshield and rear window conform to the requirements of
this code within 48 hours. The officer may also arrest the driver
and give him notice to appear and further require the driver or the
owner of the vehicle to produce in court satisfactory evidence that
the windshield or rear window has been made to conform to the
requirements of this code.

Yea, definately lay off the windshield. I've got 20% on the back & 35% up the sides. Looks nice & clean and the cops don't ride my a$$ as much.

 

I'm gonna go with 5 on the back windows.. and 15 on the front..

That should look great! What do they charge in Cali for a 5 window tint job? Just curious. It's about $250 in Chicago.

 

just depends on what shop you go to and what kinda tint. right around 200 i would say is about the average

i dont have tint and i have black leather seats...im not sure on the tint on the front windshield Al i think thats too much man, as if the cops in so cal dont have enough reason to mess with us.

dark tint.... Make it worth the $. 20% and lower is good.

Go 50% on the winshield.. that's what I have now and it is noticable somewhat, but never had issues with cops catching it.

5% on the rear half of the car is pretty good, considering you have tan interior. The only thing is you will have issues at night... backing up and all.

well my bro got 5% limo tint all around except the windsheild. loks sick especially on a white maxima. i really dont lkie light tint cause then there is no point of tinting it. that my opinion.

get dark tint. beige cars with dark tint looks sick.

$120 ALTI, not $250. Also all the windows are already tinted 70% from factory so another 70% on top of that won't change that much.
