Torque Wrenches

Torque Wrenches

Decided to partake in more repairs in my own garage but have no torque wrenches. Recommendatuions for type, size, and brand to purchase would be very appreciated

I have one of the simple ones, not the adjustable ones that click.

I think it was about $30.

sears usually has a sale on them they are usually $100 but they go on sale for about $50

so you are saying Craftysman are decent. Do thwey come in a set or jsut by size liek 1/2, 3/8, etc?

I have Craftsman torque wrenches. They are a good value. You can get better, but you'll pay more. If you get the clicker type, get two wrenches, one for low torqued bolts and one for higher torqued bolts. If you can only afford one, get the one with the higher torque capability and do not use it on small bolts. A large clicker type torque wrench oftentimes will fail to click when set at its lower settings, and you can torque the head right off of a bolt if you're not careful. For small bolts just use a small ratchet and develop a feel for what is adequate bolt tightness.
