Update on problem..

Went to my shop today and told my friend that my buddies from maxima.org think the whining sound is coming from my dying altenator.. He said that the altenator would not make that whining noise it would just die (like has happened to me before). Then while discussing this I remembered a little something the nissan service dude at a dealer told me.. He told me the problem for why i get the whining sound in morning starts and after the car has been sitting is because maybe the belt tensioner is bad..

belt tensioner is this a respectable idea for the noise being that my belts were checked out ok and where not the problem?

Sorry Problem= I get a whining noise which i only hear inside the car during first morning starts, and starts after long sitting periods.. The whining noise is sometimes high or low, and can stop and re-start.. Under the hood and outisde i hear nothing (maybe it is to loud around me but dunno). Noise goes away after 6 mins of the car running

I dunno what to do now. ;(.. Its not that I think you guys are wrong its just hard to decide what to do when he says the altenator wont make that noise.. Maybe I should go somewherre else and just get the altenator test done.. He did not even wanan test it because he did not think it would make that noise.. Can I go to autozone and test this..

alternator may whine and and you may test it and give you good results if it just started to whine(first few days maybe a week) take your car to another mechanic(thrusted by you) tell him to do the screwdriver test ,using a long screwdriver put on top of alternator running and he then listen puting his ear against the handle he must know this is and old method but still works then do the same on the tensioner if the sound is higher on alt then look no more

that very same problem you have now did happened to me a year ago another hint i don't know if this very same thing happens to anyone with same problem but when my alternator whas whining the only other strange thing besides noise was the numbers on the clock seems very fade almost to the point where i couldn't read the minutes

sometimes you can't have better advice than here good luck!!!!

There are ways to check the belt tensioner, remove your alternator belt and run the car for few minutes, see if it makes the same noise, if no noise then your alternator is going bad, if you still have the same noise then it might be your belt tensioner. If you really want to pin point your problem you take off the steering belt last and run the car for few minutes. You can ask your mechanic to follow these steps if you dont want to do it yourself.

I dunno I will run that by my machanic.. The dealer service departments in NYC really suck, they are no help with this issue... All they want is me to bring the car in..
