NEW KYB Dustboots questions...(yes, really new)

With the KYB SB103 and SB108 (mustang and miata) dustboots having integrated bumpstops, should the OEM bumpstops be removed altogether when putting it back together?

Yes, that's the whole point of using the KYB pieces. The short KYBs replace the long OEMs.

Yes, it may not seem like they're long enough right out of the box but after you stretch them out once they fit fine.

I thought they wouldnt be long enough until I remembered that the strut is going to be compressed and they will be just fine. I also checked my boots a month ago and the rear two are completely ripped

I figured that. That was how we did it on my max, and i am abotu to re-do my I30 suspension w/ all new parts. My KYBs ripped as well, so i was wondering if something was not wrong with the install.

We need to get search up to bring up the old suspension diagrams, and parts lists...

Them OEM dustboots have a built in bumpstop. It is on the top portion of the dustboot. If you were to look at the inside of the OEM dustboot you would see the yellow/creme colored bumstop. The 56218-61L10 is a bushing that is used for the shocks in the back. If you click on the pictures they will show a larger image.

I had the rear KYB boots and they ripped. I use the stock ones now, no rips! The rears have the bumpstops built into them, the front are in there, and I cant remember if they come out. When I trimmed my front BS I had to pull the boot back to them. Im thinking the OEM ones are better over all since they dont rip.

I bought mine from Courtesy Nisssan www.courtesyparts.com . Give them a call, let them know that you are a member of Maxima.org , & they will give you a good price.

After taking my suspension apart a few times, I am inclined to agree...
