the knock sensor is a pricey part....around $140. You can replace it yourself with some patience and if your hands are small...in around an hour +/-. EGR valve....replace...in a maxima...? its not in a friendly location and can bet its not fun to replace. I can't say I have heard of them needing to be replaced or cleaned...is your car's idle really rough or your gas mileage really poor...? do the other parts of a tune up before chasing an EGR valve.
I think the dealer is trying to clean out your wallet.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, I know that the Knock sensor can probably be done by me.... I found it... on the FAQ page.
Now about the EGR, yeah, it needs to be cleaned. Alot of carbon build up, Code pulled (P0440) . Nissan said, its a PITA to do -- labor 2hours... cuz they gotten get deep in the engine to access the EGR.
Well, any opinion on the EGR would be good.... Nissan will clean - $206. labor only.... no part to replace... just to be cleaned.
