mevi parts

ive been on the org searching all for a while now reading and trying to take in all the mevi info i can and im ready to get one by the end of september, and to the moderators i have read the FAQ'S.nismoparts.com has the mevi now and it comes with all the gaskets, screws, etc for the mevi. i just wanna make sure the other pieces i need for installation is accounted for. if im missing any pieces please add them on to my list thanks

1.VACUUM CANISTER W/BUILT-IN CHECK VALVE
2.VACUUM SOLENOID
3.SUMMIT RACING $45.95 OR HARLAN RPM SWITCH $50.00
4.SWITCHED RELAY
5.VARIOUS HOSES
6.CHECK VALVE(maybe needed may not be needed)
7.VACUUM ACTUATOR(maybe needed may not be needed)

For number 6 i put maybe needed because i see people saying on their required list check valve, and i dont know if they mean if your vacuum canister doesn't come with a check valve that you should get one, or is it saying you still need an extra check valve. And for number 7 i dont know if you need this either or is it the same as as the vacuum solenoid and is just another name. to the martial arts of mechaniclism and again if i left anything out the list please add it on thanks ready to mevi

if you get the nissan vac cannister you dont need a check valve.
get the summit racing rpm switch its much easier to work with and you dont have to wait forever to get the harlan... if you get the ac delco solenoid you dont need the SWITCHED RELAY..
here are the 4 things you need

1..nissan vac cannister
2..ac delco solenoid
3..summit racing rpm switch
4..hoses and thats it

Just a quick note - Harlan has worked out all the problems from his initial 2 versions of the Harlan RPM switch. It works 100% of the time so far and I have had it for a few months now. His switch is much smaller and you can set the RPMs exactly to what you want it to be. With the Summit switch 5200RPM for us is something like 3400RPM on the switch.

Just get a vac cannister with a built-in check valve and then you don't have to worry about getting one.

If you use a napa cansiter you really should also run a in line check valve right before it. I have gone through 3 napa canisters with bad check valves.

Mike, how do you know if the check valve built into the vac. cannister gets busted? Will the butterflies just not open?

The nipple that your vacuum source goes to....try to blow through that nipple. You should not be able to. You can also check by removing the hose from the canister to the MAP solenoid after the car is turned off. It should be very easy to hear the vacuum escape.

But, you can have bad check valve and the VI work everytime when testing it in neutral. With no throttle being applied there is constant vacuum and the VI will work. But it just won't work under load.

I just put another check valve in line with the canister and all should be good.

oh, and if your testing the check valve by blowing through the canister.... give the canister a few shakes or knocks and try it again. Sometimes I could blow through it and sometimes I could not. The check valve kinda goes back and forth from working to not working.

I never said that you said that... I said that there used to be problems with the Harlan. Just wanted to point out that the issues have been repaired.

I have both the Harlan (all 3 versions) as well as the Summit switch. I find the Harlan a lot easier to work with. (a) Harlan comes with 4 wires, all of which are straight-forward to connect... no 2 idle wires like with the Summit. (b) With the Harlan, 5200RPM = 5200RPM... with Summit 5200RPM = 3400RPM or something like that...

Harlan is way easier to install and calibrate. No guess-work. At least that was my experience after working with BOTH switches.

Yeah I ordered mine like mid-august. Emailed them a couple days ago, and they said most of the parts have come in, but they are still waiting for the rest. I was told another couple weeks =/

DO YOU REMEMBER WHERE YOU BOUGHT THE AC DELCO SOLENOID FROM. WHAT WEBSITE OR WHAT COMPANY,DO YOU HAVE THAT COMPANYS #, AND THAT SOLENOID'S PART NUMBER OR DID YOU JUST SAY I NEED AN AC DELCO SOLENOID AND THEY KNEW WHAT YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT. SORRY MAN BUT I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT THE HECK THAT THING LOOKS LIKE . IS IT THAT BRASS SHINEY THING I SEE STICKING ON THE SIDE OF EVERYONES MANIFOLD. and the vacuum canister i called nissan and they told me to give them my vin # and i did and i guess they looked up the options and they gave me two. one was for $54.00 but they said that canister is for the rear section. the other is $173.00 and i guess thats the one i would need if i was to replace my original vac canister does that sound about right? ? cause if it is all i would have to do is go to my local junk yard and get one from a junked max for much cheaper right?. anyone with a mevi in the nj,pa area helppppp

This is exactly the message I got from nismoparts.com
"The Manifolds and some of the hardware has arrived. I have talked to Nissan
Motorsports to find out were the rest of the parts are from Japan and they said that
Nissan, (which just changed the master PDC from LA to Tenn.) had the overseas
parts mistakenly shipped to Tennessee instead to LA. So the parts are taking a few
weeks longer than expected. I hope to see the rest of the parts here in the next few
weeks and then I will be shipping them out. "

Bah I cant wait...

Ive had this thing sitting in my closet for 5 months now and havent bothered with it. I have to hunt down the parts needed also. I got the summit switch already, now need the rest.
Where is a good place to look (cheapest)? I would rather buy something new then from a yard even if it runs a bit more.
