Changing calipers?
Hey i was just reading the other thread about the caliper problems, and since its so long i was afraid of getting no responses.
But i just changed my brakes a few weeks ago and I get a similar groaning noise now from the front ... (no noise beforehand, and as far as I know the front calipers were set back in correctly with a C clamp. no cocking whatsoever, and they work .. they just groan only when coming to a complete stop, from like 3mph to 0mph.)
I was hoping it just had to do with the new pads and rotors breaking in or something but now im leaning towards some sort of problem.
I followed the procedure on vqpower or whatever it is everyone links to for changing the pads/rotors .. I did everything, cleaned all the components, regreased the pins, set the caliper back in (the rubber seal was in pretty ****ty condition, I was gonna change that when i got around to doing the rears and was gonna fix those seals on the front at the same time.)
The pins were already fine before I did them, and had no problems resetting the calipers. I applied "brake grease" to the back of all the pads and clips etc that keep them from making noise ("ie rattling/clicking" ... I was wondering however while doing this ... like, is this going to make the caliper stick to the pad and cause it to drag?)
What do you all think is the problem? Im hoping its not a seized caliper, because they were fine and only make this noise now that the brakes were changed; and when the caliper is seized is it obvious (i.e. does the car pull to one side or anything) because it brakes perfectly normal..

furthermore: the pads I used, i kind of had to force the shims over the back of them (which already had a decorative metal piece attached to them with the company logo on it or whatever) ..
is it possible that this made it too thick and its getting too close to the rotors? just a thought, but I doubt it ...
and, is there a kit I can buy with replacement shims, and seals for the calipers? what's the cost of this magical kit?
