I had my car on a lift today and I noticed 2 bolts, 1 each on the rear of the foward spindles. They are not holding anything together whatsoever, Just tightened down and sitting there. Are these for front sway bars? I have a 97gxe, does the SE come with a fwd sway bar?? Just wondering. Thanx in advance.

Perhaps those bolts are what fastens the ABS sensor to the steering knuckle, only your Maxima does not have ABS.

I was under my Maxima today, doing an oil and filter change, and saw those bolts. They are the steering limit stops. When you turn your steering wheel to full left or full right, one of those bolt heads hits the front suspension transverse link (a/k/a control arm).
