Problem at idle and acceleration.

Please help! When idleing there is a "bump" that is felt every few seconds that comes with a loss of RPM's. There is a loss of power in acceleration as well. It seems to be getting worse. I replaced the fuel filter and had the entire intake system cleaned out. The only thing I can think of is replacing the plugs. Advice?

I am driving a 95 automatic and will note the same miss (feels like a bump with dropped rpms) at idle. This may happen three or four times at a stoplight when the car is in drive, especially on a hot day with the air on. If I place the car in neutral, then it does not stumble. So far, I am experiencing no miss under acceleration. I posted this problem a few weeks past and noted one reply suggesting that a coil may be starting to fail. I am hoping for a response from someone who has had this problem and resolved it. Does feel electrical, but seems like a stronger miss as if motor shuts down for a split second. Then again, I 've only owned the car for a short time and I don't know what a coil related miss feels like.

ingintion coil - pull them all out and look for torn/loose boots - i've had bad ignition coil with separated boot - and the engine had hic-ups at idle. Replaced defective coil - problem went away.

Nick.
