Problems with interior Air blower, Need help
My interior air blower sometimes works and sometimes does not.
When I just bought the car half a year ago it also acted up, but whenever I would give it a punch under the dash on the right side, it would start working again. I thought it was some sort of bad contact, but now I do not think so.
I noticed that when I put air selector (or whatever those buttons called) on windshield/low and temp on hot, it works then when I choose front/low it works again untill I turn AC on. Air flow stops, but when I turn AC off I can feal a blast of cold air and nothing after.
What can it be? Can it be a bad control unit or what? How can I then justify the fact that a punch used to work (not any more )
Sorry for this little rattle. All responses are greatly appreciated.

you have 2 poss problems..... no int fan... then hit lower dash...fan comes on.. that is classic blower motor failure.... the brushes are worn out and hang up causing the blower motor not to work... the hit frees the brushes and when they make contact the motor comes back on......buy and install new blower motor........... you may also be having a problem with your blower resistor... the resistor can cause blower to operate abnormally .... most of the time you will lose lower speeds.... I would replace the blower motor first and then see how the system works.... later

Thanks, for insight guys.
z32drifter, where is that resistor located? is it on the motor itself or it's a sort of a fuse?
At first I thought that it were brushes going bad, but then noticed that it almost never works on low speed settings and a "punch technique" does not work now either.
Does anybody know what I need to disassemble in order to take that damn motor off?

I haven't looked at the motor on the Max.... I think you just have to remove the lower dash cover on the pass side.... you may have to remove the glove box.. I'm not sure.. the resistor is normally mounted near the motor.. you will only see the plug and poss the back of the resistor.... the main part is normally in the evap/blower case.. there should be a plug with 4 wires into the resistor... you can test the resistor with a volt/ohm meter.... just look for continuity across the resistor....

Yeah you remove the glove box, nothin else.. take a look under there you'll see it.. its not in the big black box if thats what your pounding on.. I ended up cracking that box when I was pounding on it I thought the fan was in there.. Crasked the box and it started leaking! Damn evaporator :\

OK, I took glove box apart, here what I saw
I assume that the motor is in that white plastic case on the right. Please somebody confirm if I'm wrong.
Now I looked at resistor and measured continuity on its pins. Only 2 pins show continuity on them (marked in red). Is that right or the resistor is bad?
Do I need to take dash apart to take blower motor of that white case?
And it does not work at all blower speeds, now

Update:
today I received the resistor (thanks vsamoylov), put it in, but the damn thing did not start to work
What else can be there? I tested the motor on a battery when I was looking at the resistor and it worked.
Now today after the install, I noticed that when I choose windshield defog (the very right button) something clicks in the engine bay and I can feel that rpm drops. It doesn't happen on any other button though.
Please, I need all the input I can get. It becomes kinda chilly here in Minnesota and driving w/o heat or any other air really sucks.

That click you are hearing is the compressor kicking in... which is also why the RPMs drop slightly.
If you have verified that the blower motor works, and replaced the resistor pack, the next place to start looking is the fan/heater/a/c control head unit... see if something has come unplugged or a wire/connection is loose, etc.

well only thing i can think of is that it is still the motor, because u connected it directly to the battery it worked fine but u cant control the variable speed that way, maybe with that it doesnt work.
Either that or something is wrong with your temprature control unit. it is not sending the power. check to see if you get power on the plug u connect to the motor at differnt fan speeds and stuff and if all that stuff is good I would just try to replace the motor and see what happens. You can always return the fan if you find out that its not the problem.
