Any pointers on a short throw shift install??

I have read directions but i just want to know any advice you could give me for ease of install. when something takes 2 hours to install it means with me it take 6 so i just want to have alittle heads up of the problems and solutions that i miy encounter. that way when i am stuck there without a shifter in my car i can get help that i need before that and be stranded. thank you

Tip #1: Have a friend help you. Trying to take off that cat without help is hell(rust everywhere and that thing is heavy under the car). Plus you will need somebody to help you adjust the STS from the top of the car. Main point get some help...other than that just follow the instructions that came with it and you will be fine. Good luck!!!

I did it alone on ramps (this sucks) ... well my gf was there, but she only did some very minor things that didn't really constitute a second set of hands.

1.) I suggest getting the front up on jack stands if that's an available option for you, dont put it too high though ... it's gotta be stable, you're gonna be pulling pretty hard on some bolts.

2.) If removing the cat wouldn't be a problem for you, then do it! I have a feeling it would have taken me half the time to install it if I had removed the cat, but I saw those rusted bolts and was afraid that I wouldn't be able to reuse any of it if it ever came apart to begin with. I just slid the cat head shield all the way back and had to work around the cat. This wouldn't have been quite as bad if the car was higher then just on ramps.

3.) I did a B&M, and had a retaining clip problem putting it on... I dont think you will have this issue though.

Everyone says to just spray wd-40 or something like it on the bolts, let them sit for 10 min or so and then you should be able to get them off. But mine were so dam rusty it was impossible, I put every bit of strength I had into torqueing those bolts and all I accomplished was making rusty bolts into round rusty bolts. I'd have a garage change the bolts before you attempt any of this.
