GXE is base with least amount of options
GLE is the grand luxury edition with ALL the options
SE is the sporty edition with fogs, spoiler rims, blah blah and it can have ALL of GLE's options therefore an SE with ALL of GLE options is the best maxima !!!

Topped out SE owns j00

if you're looking for a fully loaded 5 spd, se is the way to go because they're out there. if you're looking for a fully loaded automatic, gle is the way to go. gxe is the way to go if you want to go cheapest barebones. of course all models can have most/all options and can be added if you want for the most part. yarrr

you cant just say one is better that the other, it also depends what options/packages were purchased from the dealer for the car.

Idealy from Nissan, the GLE is the top model. However, I think it really depends on what kind of option it has. My '98 SE is loaded to the max. For example, it came with every option available....16" 5 spoke wheels, leather, auto climate, front and side airbags, Bose system, moonroof, foglights, sport suspension, woodtrim, rear spoiler, power front and heated seats, etc. I don't know if any GLE can match that option list. And best of all, I think it looks and handles much better than the GXE and GLE. So, in my opinion, my SE is the best model of the 3.

Plus, now that it has OEM hid projectors retrofitted on it, it's definitely better than the other 2.

I have to say the GLE based on Resale value. I have a 97 GLE with leather, power front seats, sunroof w/visor, woodgrain interior, all power, and with a little effort, added a spoiler, 16" wheels, and fog lights. Now I have every option that you can get on the maxima, and still come out on top of the SE with the same options in reguards to Retail Value.... Can't Argue with that

Stock for stock, my I30t 5mt Pwn3z all of you. Only thing it was missing was the white-faced SE gauges, and I remedied that on the second day that I owned it...

Aren't 1995 GXE 5-speeds the fastest 3.0L maxs ever? Really small diff with the SE but stock for stock with identical drivers the only max that would kick its *** are the 3.5s. For some inexplicable damn reason that happens surprisingly often; the first of a new generation is often the fastest. Same with the Taurus SHO.

I might just be paranoid though

I vote for the 1991 Honda Civic CX, way more options than a "GLE", has advanced power steering, which actually TURNS THE WHEEL FOR YOU after you make a turn! Only Honda.

I vote GLE, mainly because i have one.....everyone calls it a boat until they get their *** handed to them by an auto max.
