High FLow Catalytic Converters in good ole CA!

I was wondering if anyone has any good or bad stories about certain brands of high flow converters. I have read a lot that the Random Technology converters rust, or break after 50,000 miles and the CEL light will stay on with them. I was checking out

http://www.xtremeflow.com/

and when I called them they told me their new CA model converters will work for me here in california. Now I was wondering if any one has ever ordered from them, or if you havent and you have a high flow cat and any good or bad info, please let me know. These cats are expensive, for a maintenence repair and I want to make at least a semi-educated purchase, thanks.

"hi flow" converters won't really net you any additional power compared to a "normal" new one unless you are turboed (and maybe hi boost S/C) or your original one clogged due to overheating. You can probably get a good performance one from Magnaflow and have it installed for about $150.

I realize they will probably not net me substantial gains, but It seems that these aftermarket "high flow" cats are cheaper than oem. I just would rather not get the extra 2 hp if these aftermarket cats are not of quality...

I found the stock Catalytic Converter I found (OEM) was 730 dollars, there must be a better solution?

IMHO, just stay away from the Random, the welds broke on mine a few weeks after installation (i just had it rewelded afterwards and it was fixed). I now have a Magnaflow and running about 10psi boost. If you want to pay more than $200, that's up to you.

Yeah I want to get eithier the xtreme flow, or the magna flow, not even for performance just to save money but if the cat breaks in 50k miles then it would make more since to just get an aftermarket. for $730 i could almost get cattman headers+y pipe
