Uneven tire wear.

Ok here goes. I have 18's on my max, not lowered yet. I am getting uneven tire wear even though I keep them properly inflated and do the rotation and balance thing. I am getting the uneven wear on the outsides only and it seems to be affecting the driver's side more than the passenger side, I am not a fat a$$ either! I was wondering if the camber plates on stillen.com would correct this, but $400 is alot. Does anybody else make them cheaper? Thanks for any help.

You probably have too much toe-in.

Get the alignment checked/fixed.

Checking toe & camber at home

Yes either toe-in or possibly too much postive camber. Most shops will do an alignment check at no charge. I've started doing my own in my garage as I keep swapping parts..

Toe - park, and point both wheels as straight ahead as possible. Does the driver side point inward more than the other - there's the toe. To measure drop a plum line from front & rear of tires to the ground and measure between both sides. I usually get within 1/4".

Camber - if you've got a level and ruler you can compare L&R camber. Measure the from the center of the wheel to the top and compare the angle from true vertical. Maybe it's 4mm on one side and 7mm on the other. Get funky with trig functions and you can calc the angles.

I did that and pretty much wasted $50.00 because all four wheels were aligned. I guess the main question here is will the camber plates help?

Actually, only the front wheels were adjusted because there's no way to adjust the rear wheels. FYI
