Car Vibrating alot on Highway

Just got my full set of 17inch Konig Imagines put on yesterday. Went on the highway today and doing about 70 the car shakes alot.

Question is: Could this be that my tires aren't properly balanced?

Or is it because my rotors are uneven?

If I were to bring it in to get tires balanced do I need all 4 done or just the 2 front ones.... dont see how tires in rear could be causing this.

Thanks for u help guys.

well...did it shake before you put the tires on?

are the wheels & tires brand new?

does it shake while driving or when you're braking?

It can also be because of defective rim's! I mean i dont wanna make u feel like **** by making u think that u just bought defective rims but that can be one possibility. Even if the rims are just a little unbalanced it will cause your car to shake at high speeds.

Before you jump the gun though, get your tires balanced if they didnt do it when you got them installed. Also you wanna make sure it has proper tire pressure.

GLuck!

Here's one for you guys.... Bought my 96 max SE about a month ago. Had some vibrations to it since the tires were gone, the half shafts were in needed of new ones, and the struts were also gone. So, I replaced the struts w/ gr-2's, put in reman'ed halfshafts, and put on some new Yokahama H4S's. Now I get a vibration at high speeds and it almost feels like a defective half shaft, but I can't be sure. My rotors are fine and I don't get any vibration during braking. They balanced my tires and all, I'm just thinking I should maybe have them re-balance them and then try to replace the half shafts again since they are under warranty. Any ideas?

Re-mount and balance tires. Could also be the need for hubcentric rings?

Here's what needs to be done for a constant vibration while driving:

1. Get all wheels balanced. Make sure tire pressures are correct. Make sure wheels are properly torqued.

2. Swap wheels front to rear to try to pin down the vibration to one wheel.

3. Check for bent wheel.

4. Check for out-of-round tire. Tire dealer should replace this as a defect.

The vibration is most likely related to one of the above issues.

I bet it's the wheel balance. The forking tire shop made me balance twice. It was all 4 wheels.

i know for a fact my rotors need to be shaved cuz when i'm driving at high speeds and brake, i feel lots of vibration.

As for the balancing, i think i'm going to wait til i'm done wit the rotors first. I think a large part of it is due to the balancing tho.

Thanks for suggestions guys.

Yea, I'll try the re-balance of the wheels first. Their the stock 96 sawblades, and all the rims look good, but I guess one could be bent somehow. That should be a red flag though when they are balance them shouldn't it be? It could also be a defective tire, so I'll see if after the re-bal if they are still doing it. Hey HAM, what are the hubcentric rings? The one thing that makes me think it's something in the drive train rather than tires is that when I accelerate hard in 2nd gear from a near stop, I can feel the vibration moreso than if I just accelerated normally.

Hubcentric rings are for aftermarket rims and you're working with OEM wheels ... don't worry about hubcentric rings.

Well guys, I brought my car back to get the wheels re-balanced and they put the car in the air. They ran the car and could see the left and right drive axles wobbling, especially the right one. Since I just replaced them with Remanufactured drive shafts, I was shocked. He told me that he would rebalance my tires, but most likely my vibration was coming from a bad drive shaft. I drove the car after the re-balance and no change. So, I had Autozone order the driveshafts again, but only the right side came in so far. I went and replaced it last night and miraculously about 80% of the vibration is gone. I still have some and now I'm wondering if I go and replace the left side, whether or not I'll get rid of the entire vibration. My worry is that even though I'm replacing a bad reman'ed driveshaft with another remain'ed one, I think the best way to go is just pony up and buy new ones from raxles.com. Now that I think about it, I bought remain'ed driveshafts for my Honda Accord and had a similar vibration when accelerating. I think that there is way too much room for error when these remainufactures go about replacing joints and slapping parts back together. Food for thought.

did you replace your driveshafts yourself? how hard of a job is that to do without a lift? My car has some vibration, but i think think its the gay AR rims and bald discount store tires the previous owner left me with. If a balance doesnt fix it, i'll prolly change axels

even if you do a rebalance on those old tires, you may have still have a vibration. Tires are the # 1 reason for vibrations, but I unfortunately found out another reason. (bad driveaxles). Yes, I did the driveaxles myself. They aren't that hard to do, just takes a little patience and time. Get new tires on that thing and I bet that takes car of most of your vibration. Also, make sure one of your rims isn't bent before doing so.
