leather Seats...how do i install the Heated seat function? PICs

So promted but a thread i saw on here about someone getting leather seats i decided i wanted some leather seats of my own so i went out and got some. I found some black leather seats from a 95 max GLE. my Question is the seats are heated i think since they have an extra connnector under them and the do not have side impact air bags. so i am pretty sure they are heated. my question is how difficult is this to connect and has anyone else done this before? Also i thought it was quite odd my passenger front seat is non powered but it is heated is this normal? i took some pics any help would be great, i would love to have heated seats since the MASS winters can get pretty cold....

those connectors should hook directly from the carpet to the bottom of your seat into connectors. 1 wire should power the whole seat (to move back and forth) and the other is just for the back support w/headrest (to move up and down). I dont think they are heated.

for the passenger side you must pull out your carpet to find those same two wires to hook up to the leather seats. Cross your fingers, because most cars are pre-wired for power for the passenger side, but if it isn't, its gonna be a bish for you.

Those seats are powered, not heated. Just pull the plugs from under your passenger carpet.

My car is pre wired for a powered passenger seat ( its a 1999 SE-L with bose and ABS) i don't know why it didn't have leather in the first place. I purchased 95 leather seats from a GLE.the driver's seat is powered and the Passenger seat is not powered. my question is the plug i have pluged in the the 3rd pic that i have posted does that look like a plug for heated seats? both seats have them. i looked that wires and there are 3 two are grey one has a red stripe and the 3rd wire is black. if this is for heated seats i was curious since i wanna try to wire them in, it would be pleasent in the winter time.

NIsmotic your the reason i got these seats, i saw your post last night and was like i want leather too so i found some at a Junkyard locally and picked them up today, took a while to clean them up but they are in good shape for the price i payed. i may need to get a new rear bench since the one i got has a pen hole and the leather is ripping but no biggie. i will have more pics once i have installed them..

also i don't really mind that the passenger's seat isn't powered the stock cloth passenger seat wasn't powered. also the powered seat is alot heavier than the non powered seat, so i have the leather and the heat without the weight

Those seats look good. From the 3rd pic i saw it looked exactly like what i had and all i did was plug them up. I knew mine wasnt heated because it came with the center console and there are 3 spots where the option for heated seats could be wired...but they are blank.

I think the fact that its not powered gives off that it wouldn't be heated, but thats just my guess

good luck with it man. there were no leathers at the junkyards around here. how much u ended up paying?

Alrights i dont own a max but im pretty familar with the install cause i installed the seats for Nismotic...anywho

The 3rd pic that you showed is that the harness for the driver seat or the passenger seat? Dont think you have heated seats if your passenger seat is not powered.

But...if they are heated did u get the switchs? cause if u didnt then you know the outcome of that

BTW..you say that power seat weights more, thats true but like a 5lb-10lbs? maybe? im not bustin ur nut sacks but its not like your going racing where the weight will slow you down or anything...

nope that harness is on the underside of the passenger seat. i paid $210 for the seats and belive me they didn't look at good when i picked them up. that is what is odd hopefully someone will chime in on this who knows for sure, i am certain that the non powered seat is heated, if you lookin the the second pic you can kinda see the plug that i took the pic of in the 3rd pic. if anyone with heated seats would be kind enough to check the color of the wires that would be great

well i have the answer!

Power seat wires are a 2 wire connector.
Airbag wires are a yellow connector (doesnt apply to you)
Headed seat wires are a 3 wire connector, and the colors are grey, grey with red, and black.

My passengers seat is powered, heated, and has an airbag.

both my seats are heated then
i took pictures of the connectors. the drivers side seat had 3 plugs one for power, one for seatbelt and one for heat. the passenger only has heat and its is not powered. so i have a non powered heated passenger seat. go figure.

plug which is what i have taken pics of. are for the heated seats. on my seats the blue grey/grey/black wired plug is from the drivers seat
the grey red/grey/black if deom the passenger seat

anyone have any idea how these are wired in. i am guessing black is gound and both grey wires are on a switched 12v source one is high heat and one is low? any suggestions.

oh and for clarification i have a non powered heated passenger seat

yeah i am going to take a hike back up there this weekend to get the switches, kinda wish i had realized that while i was there since its an hr away but oh. the center console i am going to keep because i like the 97-99 cup holders better plus i don't wanna have to spend the extra money. the seats are out of a 95 GLE. i may just get the door pannels and have the complete leather interior. thanks for the inspiritation NIsmotic, if i hadn't seen your post i would have never decided to buy seats. i noticed you have a alpine tv alos, i just purchased a IVA-C800 and a Blaupunkt dvd player. thank for the info Maxima10to1, did you go up to import wars on saturday by anychance...?

hrmm heated but non power...thats a new one... maybe the heater was added? I bought my leather seats/door panels/center console/wood grain switches and dash parts for $330 and $150 shipped into KCI. I drove up and got them while i was at a LAN Party up there. They are from a 97 GLE.

i did got to import wars, i showed my car..... no racing for me. my clutch is toast. it was fun tho i was running all over between racing, showing, and food!

IIRC the switch has 4 wires, 12v+, ground, high heat, low heat. they are not on any timer, so all you need to do is find out if they run off straight 12 volts or something less.
