Grounded Tails Out, PlZ help?
Grounded Tails Out, PlZ help?
I accidentally touched together, i think, the pos and neg of a wire in the front of my car...and i blew my tail lights, which also means inside my car, no lights in the instrument cluster, window switches, blah, and i have no corner lights...whats weird is, when i use my remote start, the lights come on....tail lights and interior, everything is fine....(except corner lights, this may be a fuse i have to check)...how can i fix this problem? im not trying to take it to a shop, or the stealership just yet, they say it may be close to a $200 problem...
any idea wut could be done to fix this? i cant drive at night til this gets fixed...

Its most likely a fuse, thats what they're there for. The lights still could come on with the alarm depending on if the alarm inputs its power to the lights (before or after the stock fuse block). Check and RECHECK ALL of your fuses, don't let a problem thats most likely simple get out of control.
ok , are there any other fuses somewhere else i should check? it HAS to be a fuse right? the wires are no longer touching.....if this is the case, the dealership owes me 180, because this exact same thing happened before and they said they changed the fuse and checked them and had to redo the wiring and everything.....and it was the SAME EXACT problem.....
The fuses are under the dashboard on the driver side and I think there may be some under the hood in the relay boxes. Which wires did you touch togeather (did the wires have anything to do with the lights)? Because I think the power windows are on a seperate circuit (which is not good), but, I don't have my service manual or car right now so I can't check. At this point I can't tell you what it is for sure because I don't have enough info, but, checking the fuses is always the first place to start because it is most likely the problem and it is the easyist to fix. So, check all your fuses and get back to me.
thanks a lot, ill def look a second time....and what happends now, is, not only do i get my lights back, if its a fuse, but i raise all kinds of hell at the stealership when i was a super newb wit the same prob and i got charged 180....thanks for the advice, i hope u continue to do so...ill keep u posted...
If everything was working fine before you shorted out the corner light wires; and all you did was short out the corner light wires; and you fixed the short correctly: It must be the parking lamp fuse under the dash. Even if it doesn't look blown it still could be, so, replace it regardless of its appearance. If this does not work your car has more serious problems and the only way I would be able to help you would be to take a look at the car myself and unfortunately we are on opposite sides of the country, so, that’s kinda out of the question. I recommend taking your car to some type of automotive electronic specialist rather than the dealer. They will be better equipped to help you with your problem and most likely will be fairer with the bill.
Good luck. Let me know how it works out and what the problem was,
