Suspension advice needed (control arm installation)

My left front control arm needs to be replaced ('98 SE). It squeaks every time it hits even the smallest bumps in the road (sounds like I've got bluebirds trapped under the hood). All I have is a hydraulic jack to raise one side of the car. Can I replace the control arm without having to lift both front wheels at the same time?

Also, does anyone recommend against a beginner like me taking on this kind of challenge, or is this the kind of task I can accomplish if I'm good at following instructions?

Any other tips?

Thanks to all who respond,

Jimmy

Thanks for your response. You're right; it seems easy enough. But what's the best way to get the whole front end up? My guess is two hydraulic jacks would be too unstable. I'd hate to get crushed by my own car just to save a couple hundred bucks.

Use the jack to set the whole front end up on some jack stands. They should be pretty cheap, and you may be suprised how many times you'll end up using them.
