Are all Maxima's set up for Keyless Entry?

And if so, do I just need to buy the Key Fob to make it work?

I have a 95 GXE 5-speed.

Thanks, Mack

I would like to know too. I just bought a 96 Maxima and wasn't given any keyless fob. Near the steering column has a security LED that keeps blinking. Wondering if it originally comes with it or not. Thanks

Nope. Mine doesn't have it. I think the security light means you have it though. You can get a remote on ebay and there are programming instructions in the faqs (if the remote doesn't come with them)

I don't think so. I worked at a Nissan Dealership for three years and I have a '99 GXE and I couldn't just add a key fob. My car didn't come with the "Comfort and convenience package" that adds keyless entry and a power driver seat. The Service advisor, my buddy, said that It would have needed to come from the factory, and that you couldn't just add a remote. Believe me I tried, I learned how to program customer's cars for them and tried it on my car with no luck. Sorry.

i think you need the BCM from a car similar to yours and a key fob. you install the BCM and program the remote hopefully.

Body Control Module. Its the box behind your antenna motor.

Thats the thing, GXEs w/o comfort and convenient packages don't even come with power antennas. Do that matter at all? Can you get a BCM from a salvage yard or something? I'm thinking about just getting an aftermarket alarm system w/ keyless on it. Who knows? My service department friends said it would be a b*tch to try an add OEM fog lights too. You would need a new light-switch branch comning from the steering column. So that squashed my thoughts of adding SE foglights also.

i have the same question. i bought my car and it had the security light always blinking, and i looked nex to antenna and see that i have the box.... I already have and aftermarket alarm installed since i bought the car, is it possible for me to buy the fob and use it along with my aftermarket remote, for instance, to roll the windows up and down?

Since you worked at a dealership like that. What is the trick to getting Homelink to work with rolling code garage door openers?

Also, you need COmfort & Convenience to have keyless. If you have power windows/locks, you should be able to go anywhere to get aftermarket, but comfort & Convenience may have included the pw and pl, so...

Getting Homelink to work is easy, you just have to program your garage door opener to learn the remote on Homelink. I've gotten mine to work, you need to read your garage opener manual on how to program it.

Correction. BCM is located on top of your ECU. If your car doesn't come stock with the keyless entry option, you need to get your self the same BCM, keyless enty box, security light (optional), Keyless remote. The BCM has to match your car meaning if yours is Auto you have to get auto with the same options as yours, same follows for the manual trans. If you don't get the same ones, you can't lock two back doors while being in the car, (the switch inside the car). But you can lock it with the keyless remote. Theres more to it so stay with me. When getting the keyless box in the trunk you will have to find a way to hook the antena for the keyless entry box, the antena goes to the rear window, in my car i had to hook it up to the frame of the car. After going through all that crap finally it worked. Tell you the truth it wasn't worth the money, time and afford to put the option in my car. The only thing i liked is that you can roll your windows down from the remote. Thats all other than that, IT'S NOT WORTH YOUR TIME, MONEY, and AFFORD. Just get your self and nice aftermarket alarm and have them install it.

Lexx,
I'm pretty sure you can but don't hold me to that. When the new gen pathfinders came out. I programmed one of the new keyfobs to work on the old gen pathfinder, and it did work, so I 'm assuming that Nissan would use the same "code-emitting" setup for the Maximas, Altimas, Frontiers, etc. But again, I don't know for sure.

Can anyone tell me how to roll the windows up with the remote? I was showing off my GLE to some friends by rolling the windows down by holding the left button down on the remote. I have no idea how to roll the windows up. I set off the alarm when I held the grey button down and popped open the trunk when I held the right button down.

press unlock 3 times & lock 2 times.....

BTW: I think for the people that are asking if they can just add a remote...
If you have a light & a POWER DRIVER SEAT ... you can just add a remote.

try the unlock & lock at once when you press it the second time for the lock (not the unlock) . . . hope you understand ....

well on my 02 I hold the panic button down for 5 secs and it rolls the windows up. Might give that a shot if this doesn't work.

man dont bother with the stock, the alarm is only going to off if someone hits your car at 20mph while it's parked. Oh wait, that happened to me two months ago and my alarm didn't even go off, go outside at noon to find a hugehass dent/hole punctured through my rear bumper.

factory blows, all it's good for is unlocking doors and rolling down windows.

I guess you're right about the rolling down windows. Still haven't figured out how to roll up the windows. Maybe I'll stand on one leg with one hand tied behind my back then hit the lock and unlock and then the lock again. I'll have to try that at lunch though.

why would you need to roll them up? albeit it would be cool to stand next to the window at work and start my car, rolldown the windows, and roll them back up when people walk by it. scare the crap out of them. would be cool if you could shut the engine off too

ok i understand that if i have the light and power seats i should have the option, my question is will the fob work along with my aftermarket alarm... so obviously i dont care if the stock fob is pointless. i would like to have the option of popping my trunk and rolling my windows up and down, someone please answer this question..

Any I30 remote will work with your max, I am using the remote from my dads 1997 I30 that got totaled on my 1997 max.
