I have a 96 Auto Maxima with intake, FSTB, and Sprints. My friend has a 5sp Civic EX 92-95 (exact year unknown) with an Integra GSR motor swap, DC Sports header, cams, and performance clutch. Do yall think I can take him? I've taken him once, but that was on a rainy day. I beat him like 4-5 car lengths by 50mph but that's cuz he had nothing but wheelspin. Yall think I can take him on dry land?

You will lose. He's putting out horsepower similar to you with 600-700 lbs less weight.

hummm you beat him by 4-5 car lengths with the GSR motor? thats crazy. No offense, you shouldnt be even close. The Civic hybrid should EASILY take your auto or a 5 speed Max. low 14's are possible with that motor with little to no bolt ons.

The dry road will make a lot of difference and it will be a lot closer but I say just race him anyway. Almost everyone but a few people told me that the GSX Eclipse would smoke me and I raced him and lost by less than 1/2 a car length both times we raced. Who knows maybe youll suprise yourself. Good Luck!!!

Well, this guys case is a little different. Stock GSX runs low 15's or so, you run close to that if you're good. Civic's with GSR swaps run low 14's like Turbomax said. If the Civic gets traction, it's gonna get embarassing.

Not a chance... My cousin has this swap with a 5 speed (but on an LS). He doesn't have all the mods that you listed but I've driven it... It's fast! Put headers and other stuff and it'll rip...

Let me add some details and clarifications. I beat him 4-5 car lengths that time is because the road was wet. It was hard for him to get traction with a performance clutch. But even on dry land he's having problems, maybe cuz of his cheap tires. I'm running on michelin pilots so i have no problems with traction. His motor is also kinda beat-up cuz it was from a junk yard. So you think he'll beat me flat out? or do I have a chance?

Define "beat up" LOL...

It'll really depend on the "state of tune" of his engine but if it is running even "well" ... I think he'll take you... but you could try... you never know...

Just a few of words though... Use your head when/where you do this... don't want you to be a statistic...

Beat-up meaning burning oil and losing 10hp at the crank. I've raced a Integra GSR stock before and was head to head with it. I question lies if his car is faster than a Stock GSR. The only thing I feel that kinda scares me is the clutch. I've driven it a couple of times and it's really strong. I use to have a 2000 Civic SI and I feel his civic pulls alot harder. But then again, I feel my maxima pulls alot harder than my SI.

The only way is to do it....

The Civic is lighter than the Integra plus he has headers, sprockets (dialed in?), etc....

To give you an idea: I ran my cousin's car up to 125 and it was still pulling...

Good luck either way... gotta catch some Zzzzz'a

I would think a 5sp maxima should be able to beat a stock GSR. I have an auto and I'm neck to neck with them.
