over drive dosent work

over drive dosent work

there is no light or anything when i push the button. is it my transmission?

Does it actually shift into overdrive or not? Thats the important question.

If it does, then the bulb burnt out

Next time you are cruising down the highway, press the overdrive button. If your rpm's jump by a few hundred (wait a 2-3 seconds for this to happen), you will know that your overdrive works!

All overdrive does is tell the car "don't go into fourth gear". This is your super-efficient gear that gives you good gas mileage on the highway. however you don't have enough power at that gearing to accelerate very fast.

So, if you're on the highway and want to pass a car quickly, hit the OD button before you make your move!

i had the button go out on mine and had to run wires from the OD button down the shifter and by the floor. the two wires that connected the button in the stick just like broke and this was the only way i could fix it.

nothing happens when i push the button, no rpm jump or anything. if i take my car in to get repaired, where should i take it? transmission shop? sounds like my wires came off too or something

just splice new wires yourself its not that hard. or if its your shift **** like mine was then buy a new one that should fix it.
