This wont add power.
And yes it would be okay, read the stickies because you want to install either a WOT swtich or manual switch, but do not want to use it when driving normally, and look for Jimes write-up in the nitrous section.
It helps your tranny live longer actually.

I've tested this mod at the track and i can vouch, its useless. I ran 6 times 3 with and 3 without drop mod and all three runs without were faster (and this was on the same night, one time off one time on, then repeated so the results should be unbais. As far as making your tranny last longer i have no idea, i can tell you that it shifts WAY too aggressively though for everyday driving it hits in so hard that it feels like your tranny is going to explode every shift. I would definitely not recommend it especially since theres no real benefit.

It probably won't make you go faster especially N/A. I use it to save the transmission from taking so long to shift and it does work by reducing the wear time on the clutches so there is a REAL benefit.

Its not to be used except at WOT as per the FAQ's, its not for everyday driving.

Where it really shines is when you are really putting down power ie 300 HP+. The transmission takes forever to shift under that much power and the DR mod reduces this time considerably and does made a dramatic difference in 1/4 mile times under those conditions.

make sure you change the fluid and filter too. Use high quality fluid and a bottle of lubeguard. I love lubeguard. My dad's olds has 150,000 on the tranny and it still shifts like new.

I just do tranny flushes every year.

Not to the flywheel, but to the wheels... yes.

Won't add power anytime during the 0rpm-fuelcut.

Only gets AVAILABLE power to the ground quicker.

As we've stated before,

Points of interest:

Make sure its connected to a switch, you want it to shift with the d/r under WOT ONLY never under normal driving, try it for yourself, and see what we mean if you must.

**** these codes came up, Front Left Heated O2 sensor Automatic Transmission, Control Unit Signal to ECU,and Line Pressure Solenoid Valve (Automatic Transmission) the control signal to ecu came on since i put the new tranny in. but dam that **** shifts qwikkk, i nearly lost control of the car. btw uhm that microwave switch, that will turn on the dr if i get it for WOT?

Go to your local Radio Shack and see what they have, because I wasn't able to find one online, and the shipping would be more than the part.

I got one that has N/C and N/O you need N/C for sure.

read the "Stickies" up top mang. this is only for Auto's. Yes, I've done it to my max too. I have over 100k miles. I'm using a manual switch, under WOT the shifts are a lot faster but harder. Don't do it for normal driving cuz , yes, it feels like my tranny will explode during the 1-2 shift.

Might want to invest in a tranny cooler too. Read the FAQ's about that too.

If you're drunk, you're incoherent, and explaining would be useless.

What I understand from reading the Stickies and how tos is: By disconecting the drop resistor, using a switch, it causes the car to shift as hard as possible, so, What if you were to put in a resistor with more resistance than the stock one, rather than entirely disconecting it. Would this cause the car shift harder without being to hard for everyday driving (depending on the amout of resistance) or would it kill the computer?

hmm more resistance huh. i guess nobody wants to go through the hassle of doing it, but it will still be hard on the tranny, and not suitable for everyday driving. the thing is with the switch if i am going to race some one, i know im going to forget to turn it off lol

whoa when you guys are saying that you shouldn't drive with it on every day....does that mean the its bad for the tranny after long usage or does it mean its just not comfortable driveing with the DR mod???

It would acctually be easy. Just get a resistor with slightly higher resistance that can handle the same amout of current and put it in the place of the stock resistor. I just don't want to try it b/c I don't know if it will damage my computer. Does anyone know or have the ***** to try it?

If the tranny were to shift slightly harder it would actually make the clutches in it last longer (less slipping). The clutches are what tend to go first. When I had a shop rebuild my previos cars transmition I had him make it shift slightly harder and he said it wouldn't damage it or significantly decreace the life of it.

Resistances both higher and lower have been tried both with fixed and a variable resistor. The nature of the circuit does not lend itself to changing the level of pressure from anything from normal to maximum pressure. Good idea though I thought it would work too.

I spent a lot of time trying to accomplish this as well but feel free to try again, you won't hurt anything by just varying the resistance.

PM Mad_Max_SE - i know hes been daily driving with the drop resistor mod for prob around a year. ive ridden w/ him alot and it does shift pretty hard but i dont think hes had any problems yet.

At one point i used it for every day driving for like a month or so and i had nearly 150K miles on my tranny when i did it, and my tranny was fine, its my engine that eventually blew up my tranny had 180k on when i blew up my second engine and parted out my max That was the cars original tranny and even with those miles it worked just fine, even after drop mod. I don't know why everyone says the auto trannys are weak, with nearly stock HP to it they can last forever. And keep in mind me and my car did at least 100mph every time i ever got on the highway in it, I wasn't gentle with her in any way shape or form. BUT as far as day to day driving the drop mod is terrible, nobody will want to ride with you because they'll think your cars about give out and they'll be pushing.

o ok thanks i was scared about the tranny messing up on me. i though auto cars blew trannys and stick cars blew motors. im just a little worried because last year i blew my tranny badly. the tq was all scratched and had dig cuts in it. everything else in the tranny was fried. i never did nuetral drops, i just used to do burnouts on the ice or wet road lol i knw that was when i was young and stupid. but now i am a little more careful
