Mevi??
Mevi??
ok idk this my be a stupid question but what is the point of a mevi does it increase hp and where can you buy one i read the write up on how to install it just wondering..?
My understanding of the MEVI in a nut shell is that it shines throu on highway type speeds and does nothing if not subtract from low end. You can buy them from Courtesy Nissan in Dallas. Atleast you could.
All it does is continue to create peak hp past 5200 (I think) rmp to redline, where the USDM manifold normally drops off at around 5200. The best advantage is felt with an ECU mod, and increased redline. I does take a lot from the low end though.
Where would you get one then? I doubt the guy mentioned in the stickies still sells them.

besides wildmaxi, (and me now) everyone on this thread has joinned the .org on the year of 2004 (except DAVE Sz which i belive knows more)
so, funny what reading trogh the pages of the .org can answer you questions.... I 'm very icoherent right now, so I will stop...

the mevi is a dual runner intake manifold with long and short runners, at a specific rpm the runners switch to enhance breathing at the higher rpms to help get more power. its true the ecu helps get more power in addition to the MEVI since it gives you an extended redline. im sure the adjustment on the timing and the fuel map also helps. MEVI stands for middle eastern variable intake. there is a variable manifold off the vq30dek engine 2000-2001 maxima. The upsides are extended power after 5200 rpms but there are downfalls like suffered low end power and risks like screws coming loose off the butterfly valves and getting sucked into the engine. as far as buying one, im not really sure anymore. courtesy i heard doesnt have em anymore.
Thorough description (including pics) of a MEVI from the best Maxima site out there (in my opinion). Includes dyno's and install instructions.:

Group deal that started a few months ago on MEVI's. Includes a site to order them from on page 2.:

One of the many good MEVI links here on the .org that discusses frequently asked questions regarding the MEVI and even has links to just about every MEVI discusssion on the .org (thanks to JeffesonM).:

An MEVI does not have two seperate runners and either does the 2K-2k1 manifold. They both use resonance chambers for the high rpm change over.
Thanks for correcting them Mike before I did. Both the mevi and the 2k+VI are not dual runner designs, they're more of a single runner with additional space for top end power. If I were to get either I think I'd fo for the 2K VI, there's some custom work but I'm up for it. I'd of course need the TB/IACV adapter or get rid of it completely like BSwift or whatever it is.
I have never known anyone who has had the butterfly screws fall off and into the engine....neither have I ever read or seen a thread where this actually happened to someone....but rather people speak of it as being possible....
