Shift Light.

Does any one know where I can get a shift light for the Max?

CustomEnterprise as they are called now used to have it when they were CustomMaxima, but I was looking all over their web site and was unable to find it, do they not sell it any more? or is there somewhere else it can be purchased.

I'm refereing to the kind that goes into the guage cluster

similar to this. . .

Mine is compleatly custom so you cant buy it. You can do as Araffio did.... and wire it as a shift light, but you will have to buy the part that acctually reads the RPMs. some shift lights come all in one unit, and some have a separate brain that reads the tach signal, and then you plug and external shift light to it. That would be the one to buy.

Drilling the holes really blows. I recommend 5mm LEDs and there holders to make the job very easy.

Has anyone actually tried this method on a 4th gen? I have installed a lot of shift lights...but unfortunately they were all in older vehicles and none of them maximas.

I don't even know why I'm asking this...I don't really need one, but it would look cool.

I see, I dont mind the custom work, I do feel a bit worried about drilling holes but hope that with a careful hand and patience hope that it wont be too painful.

do you know where I could get a part that reads the RPMs? I cant think what I would search for to find it, I love the look of the LEDs in the guages and that is the look I am going for, if it seems too much work then I wont go with a shift light all together.

Where did you get the holders for the 5 LEDs?

thanks again.

actually it should be pretty easy to put the LEDs into the dash. I bought some LED holders at radio shack and they screw right in wherever you drilled. Its hard to see but you see that little chrome dot thats behind my windshield wiper stalk is next to the dimmer switch, thats my LED light. But instead of it being a shift light, its for my MEVI and turns on when the MEVI kicks on.

sweet, I didnt know radio shack has LED holders I'll swing by there tommorow and pick up a few. How much did they cost you?

So I can get holders from radio shack,
I have a write up for the 5th gen, I'm assuming it the same for the 4th Gen.

and

how do I hook the Leds to the unit? (I havent dont any wiring before so I'm new to it but a quick learner.)
the 5MM Leds where can I get them from? I checked superbrightleds.com but they didnt have single 5MM leds. Would radio shack have this as well? (do they need resistors soldered on or just the Leds?)

Sweet found the link to Harlan's Site.

I forgot the cost of the holders, a couple bux and come in a pack of 2 I believe. I got my LEDs from the shack too and you have to calculate to see which resistors you need so you dont blow the led out.
