its easy JEFF. do what i did to calculate ur hp.

when i was gettin my y-pipe installed. they jacked my car 6 feet in the air and told me to press on accelerator to see where the pipe shakes. well i press just a bit on accelerator and in about 2 seconds the mph was up to 40 !! do this to 60, calculate the EXACT time and u can estimate the power u put down !!!

ok i just gave u all proof that its possible, i really dont understand y u all are talking to me like a dumass. If high hp is what i want out of my max whats the big deal, let me do my own thing. I figured u all would think its cool to get so much performance out of a car we all have.

I drove my buddies STi halfway to our hiking destination in maine in august (Katahdin for those that know what it is.)

What a great car ('04 STi metal flake blue) ... Got a civic (with so many mods and crap done to it that it probably cost him more then the damn STi I was driving) clocked at 100+ by a statie. We were messing with him on 95 just before getting into NH in MA, we would go 120 and he would take 10 seconds to catch up after we slowed down ... Well, one of those times slowed down for traffic ~ 75mph and lo-and-behold we pass a statie on the side of the road. Lucky for us we were abiding the law, while the civic was still catching up when he passed the cop at 100+ .. OOPS

here's a crappy dark picture while at the gas station

that was after going down and back a 6mi dirt road rally style .. still looks clean! (relatively) .. it was amazing how little dust got on the car and no apparent chips or anything from rocky flying up.

I've never had so much fun driving a car as this beast ... my only gripe is the wing (I love the way it looks on the STi) but when you're driving the thing is at the perfect height to completely block the view of cars that are about 2-3 carlengths behind you. Was a PITA in traffic, but hey, it's worth it. (That and the middle vibrates a little bit when you go ~ 80 ... gets mezmorizing if you stare at it in the rear view.)

well i for one wasn't giving you crap about making high horsepower. more power to you, and completely possible given the right components and proper tuning. what i was replying to was the statement of you walking on a HIGHLY MODDED STI with your 600 hp max from a roll.

sti's and evo's are over rated IMO, if every manufacturer decided to turbo charge a 4 banger and do AWD system then everyone would be drooling over something. and this is what all manufacturers are doing now which is dropping S/C and turbo charger kits on their cars and introducing AWD system. mazdaspeed6 being the newest followed by volvo S60R.

when is our turn?

What do you mean "over rated". Of course every maker could do this. But they don't. Subaru was the maker that enough ***** to import the WRX into the USA. Until then NO ONE was willing to to do this at this market segment. Now everyone is scrambling to catch up. ie..Saab with their 92X (rebadged Imprezza turbo). Thing is Volvo had their AWD turbo 5 cylinder 300hp awd before Subaru into'd their WRX. Or it at least it was about the same time. But the Volvos are in a higher price category that can justify the higher cost. As it competes against the S4/M3 etc....

Over rated?

Have you driven one?

Very very nicely constructed, very tight, no rattles, and i did 155 mph from exit 200 something to exit 240 something in maine (40 miles of nothingness went by pretty ******* fast.) Like it was just waking up in the morning.

Ran like a champ after getting off the hwy still, no quirks. Hell, at 155 it was smoother then my max at 75 ... I've never felt so safe in a car going over 100mph before.

Hell if anything they are UNDER rated. Only enthusiasts really know the difference between a WRX and a WRX STi. You can't say the same for more common sports cars like vettes etc.

Plus, the intercooler spray button is the best invention ever.

this is true . i saw a civic with a bilt motor at the track that was running low 12's and a friend has a civic coupe with stock prelude motor that runs mid 13's.
power to weight is key

i hate civics and thankful most of the people who drive them don't mod them for speed so odds of meeting a 12 second civic on street never.

You havent listed how you intend to make this 600whp. Are you going to be configuring a new setup? Developing your own parts? Give us some insight. Its one thing to say, Ill be pushing 600+ at the wheels and another thing to break it all down and actually post some logical thinking with some detailed setups.

You pop up out of nowhere and make claims to soon be pushing big power because you post somone elses setup and get upset when others doubt you.
You have yet to establish yourself on the Org or even make a name for yourself by either posting impressive track times, dyno numbers or even logical coments.

i love my max and want to boost too, but i dont think you can get 600hp from a max if you did it would be vrey hard with the high compression ratio and all. i dont know alot aabout turbos but i know a max is not a good platform for gettign 600whp. you better off selling you max and gettign something lighter with more potential, and much as i hate honda a lil civic with a h22 swap and a big turbo will toast most of the boosted maxs, christ there is a mid 10 sec eclipse out here and the thing is unreal

what r u talking about not good platform, the VQ is awesome. i dont want a civic with a swap, everyone has one, and there is more potential with the VQ anyway.

i really didnt think this was going to turn into a big deal, i dont feel the need to prove myself right now, ill prove myself when its done with a dyno vid. im not giving all my secrets away, but i will help anyone else on the board anyway i can(hence me photoshopping the ugly max). And i hope later on down the road if i need help you all will lend a hand too.

Now im dropping the subject, untill the project commences.

hey man - 600 hp - more power to you. but i hope you dont plan on driving it for more than a few years. The VQ is a strong engine, but thats a crapload of power - it wont last for years to come w/out becoming a money pit. also i hope were talkin about dragin here - any (equally modded) sti or civic would lose a max in twisties, the max just doesnt have the chasis that they do (obviously its a family sedan). but hey man if you want 600hp - go for it ill be impressed.

well when I get my sti wing I will have 600hp. STI's "run14.1" when tested by magazines and such. They are nice cars and would not mind having one sit along side my max every evening...

just kidn about the wing, stock is just right
and why am I still in here.

go sneak apeak in the boosted section, its being done. just facts and my opinion, if the max is a family sadan with terrible chasis wouldnt the civic be a fuel saving economicaly friendly small car (with potentional and can be fast too) but dont type crap you really dont know about. especially with your superior background and knowledge

STi wings belong on vehicles of that type - Impreza 2.5 RS, Impreza STi-22b, Mits Evo, etc.

Besides, you'd ruin the sexy lines of the Maxima IMO.

You know, i drove my friends STI the other day with an upgraded exhaust (no cats) and an upgraded intake. That car is hands down the fastest vehicle i have ever driven. i was taking 30 mph bends that i can only do 55-60 on im my max at 100+. That car handles like no other. It took everything i threw at it and more. And it spools sooooo hard without the cats.

Now if you really want to get high horsepower out of a Maxima, there are the essentials. First you get some gtR stickers, then you gotta drop it at least four inches. That will give you about 70 pony's, add a bee buzzer exhaust, and a bright yellow paint job and your sittin at 600 minimum... Properly tuned youl be getting 700-800 at the wheels

first of all ive driven both - so i do know what im talkin about. I never said the max couldnt be powerful - it can be a freakin beast. if you can read, i said an equally modded STI or civic would take a max in the turns because it has a better "racing" chasis and can handle turns better. so it looks like im the one who knows whats hes talkin about.
