I have a 1996 Maxima gxe. My check engine light came on recently. I went to a local auto store so they could read the code but they said they only had the connection for 96-99 maxima. The connection for that was obx II. So then I went to a repair shop and they didn't have the connection either. Where would I go to get my codes read and why is my connection different from 96-99?

 

The connector is the same, it's just in a different lccation. It's in the passenger footwell by the ECU.

Either way, you can check the codes yourself.
