Im getting my new guage cluster in. I jacked up the other one trying to throw in the import intelligence led glow kit. Can anyone tell me the right way to do this???????? THanks!

 

9 out of 10 people who take the needles off, fail to get them back on correctly, or at least its all messed up if they do.. there is a how to around somewhere, maybe in the stickies

Yeah there is a how-to in the stickies, ( http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...46&postcount=2 ) but people on the org have tried this and still messed up their needles/guages doing it.

Your best bet would probably be to just throw LEDs under the stock needles like it says how to on this site: http://www.petah.org/maxima/gauge.htm

wow where was this writeup when i needed it?! lol i followed the ones given by import intelligence and they jacked me up bc they werent very detailed.
---- Nissan & Infiniti Clusters -
88-98 Nissan 240sx, 200sx, Sentra, Maxima, Pathfinder, Altima, NX2000, Pulsar & G20. Start the car and let it warm up. Note engine rpms, temp and fuel needle positions.
Select a CLEAN work area for taking the gauge cluster apart and take your time doing the next few steps.
Unsnap the black plastic clips from the bottom of the gauge cluster and pull apart in halves. The gauge faces should be fully exposed at this point.
Lift the speedometer gauge face up enough to slip the needle nose pliers in and push the needle rest out of the gauge face. ( Pops back in )
Once the needle rest is off push the needle counterclockwise very lightly until more resistance is felt. This point should be around 6-7 o'clock on the gauge face. When needle stops mark this spot on the gauge face. This is the speedometer calibration point. The needle must be placed in this spot upon re-assembly so that the speedometer will read correctly.
