Car has rough idle and RPM's are erratic
My car recentley has been acting weird, the other day I started my car and the RPM's went up to about 1500, then came back down where the engine hesitated around 400 RPM's for a while before finally stalling. I started it back up and attempted to drive it and I could feel it tugging. I thought that maybe I had flooded the engine by accidentally holding down the gas while I was taking a nap on my lunch break (car was off) but I would not think that this many problems could arise from that. About 4 hours later I came out and started her up again, where it did the same thing. After stalling about 2 or 3 times it stabilized enough to where i could drive it. On the road I hit about like 3000 RPM's and it started shrudding. I quickly laid off the gas and slowly drove it home. The next day my check engine light came on and it was giving a code for running lean in left and right banks, and misifre in all the cylinders. I have no clue where to start in finding out whats exactly wrong with my car. I am thinking that if it is a faulty sensor, wouldnt i get a code for that sensor? I replaced the fuel filter not that long ago, along with the PCV vavle too, so I dont think that is the problem. Could an intake leak be the cause? Any feedback at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you remember what the codes were then this might help: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=235667

The misfire could be either a coil pack or a fuel injector. A clogged injector could cause a lean condition, strange that suddenly your getting it for both banks. You'd think if only one injector suddenly cloggs, only one bank would be effected.
Next on the list would be a failing MAF sensor.

The reason I think its not just one fuel injector is because both banks are running lean. I wonder if it could be a gasket leak in the intake manifold or throttle body, but I also am not going to rule out the possibility that its a failing fuel pump or a defective sensor, such as the TPS or the MAF sensors. I just think that if it was something as simple as a fuel pump or a sensor, the check engine light would come on for that reason. I have checked it out and inspected my intake, but I could not find anything major that would cause this. I reset the ECM and so far it has not gone back off, but I also am hesistant to drive it anywhere because it has been acting so weird. I started her up last night and the RPM's were fluctuating really low, causing my lights to dim and everything as if it were about to stall out.
