Just got a Maxima!

Hello all...I'm new to the site. Just picked up a used 96' GXE a/t with 97k on the odometer. I've been into the Honda scene for the last 4 years (previously owned a 98' Civic EX). I wanted a 4 door for more room and more power, that small 4 banger was getting old. The Maxima seemed like a perfect fit.

I don't know too much about modding Maximas and I don't plan on doing anything major, but I'm here to learn. In the near future I'd like to get some OEM fogs and a used set of OEM wheels. If anyone could give me some info on the best place to find these I'd appreciate it.

Also, after driving the car for 2 days the check engine light just came on, I haven't checked the manual yet, but the car is running fine. I'm hoping its nothing major, any idea of what it may be??

Thanx for any info...cya around.

lemme be the first to welcome you. I too converted from the a 98 honda civic dx to a roomier (also more torque and comfort) automobile. The max seemed to fit the bill nicely. My honda was turbo'd though so I can't say that it was all that slow. actually it was kinda quick, but it needed some serious bodywork. frontend got damaged. in the end, it was still one un-comfortable car for any decent amount of driving. plus it was cheap. have fun here!

Yeah my Honda was bad luck for me. It was vandalized 2 weeks before I moved to Columbus last year. My insurance covered the new paint job. Then a week after I had it up here it was broken into and my dash was ripped up.

Heres a pic of the old EX....

Yeah I figured I was asking some pretty basic questions. I've been a member on ClubSi.com for a few years, I know how annoying it gets answering the same stuff over and over.

I've been checking out the FAQs also, even tried the search, but its not working. I still haven't had any luck on info about the fog lights.

you have to be a donating member to search...

go to google and type in:

[ your search criteria site:forums.maxima.org ] - with the brakets being the input field...

its kind of a hack, if you had to put a name on it...

Congrats on your purchase. When my Check Engine Light (CEL) came on, I took it to AutoZone, where they scan it for FREE.

I don't quite get where your coming from? Cloud 9?? Thats a tough post to read. lol

I don't plan on modding my Max that much at all....as stated in my first post. Like I said I was into modding my Honda for a few years so I know what and what not to do.

There are numerous sources to obtain OEM parts out there. I keep an eye on a few eBay Stores, like http://search.stores.ebay.com/ws/sea...textsearched=2

Welcome to the Org. There's an easier way to check your CEL (without leaving your house). The ECU's right next to the gas pedal.... should be in the FAQ's (the one titled "Help! My Check Engine Light Is On!").

Uh.....

You can check your codes from the CEL yourself with the simple turn of a screwdriver.

Welcome to the board. The FAQs on this site are very good - take a good read and you'll learn a lot.
