I finally got it! [Pics]

After a long 2 weeks of the car being in the shop after 1 day of ownership to replace a busted heater core. , I got it back today. I bought it for $3000.00 but i actually got it for nothin cause of a settlement i got on my 1993 crashed Nissan Altima, i got exactly $3000 from the insurance company, Thank god i never cancelled the full coverage i had on that like i wanted to. It is a 1995 GLE with every option. The car was in desperate need of some TLC. Scratches everywhere and bad paint oxidation. I took a ride to pep boys and purchased Meguires 3-step system and this is what it looks like after 2 steps. Still have to wax but i was beat. What a difference that stuff makes , man the car looks brand new.....well sort of . Still has alot of minor surface scratches and a bunch of dings buts it looks great compared to what it did look like. Should have taken before pics . The car has 144,000 and runs awesome! No mods or anything done yet, 1st thing will be new rims and tires but i figured i would throw up some pics, nothing special comaperd to most cars here but i love it!

Just drove around town, Bose system crankin' sunroof open, great power , smooth ride...God I Love This Car!

Haha sounds like me when I first got my ride. Gonna keep it bare stock or making plans to do a few upgrades?

Not to take over this thread, but what is the longest lasting/best wax in your opinions? When I first got my car, I washed and waxed my car (3 hrs) to cover up the surface scratches, and a week later with 3 more washes, the stuff seemed to disappear. All the scratches returned...haven't done it since. It's been a couple of months. Anyway, I'm just looking for opinions.

polish to remove the scratches, not wax. Washing your car 3 times a week is probably overkill. Read the detailing forum for all your questions.

Nice buy. Your car appears to have been in a rear end accident. The rear emblems are not in their stock location....but I guess for 3000 you cannot complain much.

New to Maxima .org

I have had my Maxima maybe 2 months so a newbie but have plans for mods. I am now the proud owner of a Pearl white 95 SE auto(couldn't find a stick) with all the options and liike you love the Bose, leather, the VQ engine and the Maxima nameplate. I have owned a 300ZX but after wrecking it and having to settle with a Mazda 626(no full coverage...yes I know... lesson learned) I am happy to return to the VQ and Nissan. I miss the rear wheel drive but love the back seat and so far so do a couple ladies No pics as of yet but will post when available. As far as the mods go hoping to start with intake then exhaust then wheels and suspension. Not really wanting any body mods, I like the 95's look, except maybe skyline styled tail lights and I think bulged fenders would look sweet with a low stance after suspension mods. Anyway I'm ramblin now but I'm glad to find this site. This is a great site and good people who apreciate the VQ and the Maxima.

I used the Meguires 3-step system. 1st step was a "paint cleaner" which got rid of the paint oxidation and residue on car, 2nd step was a "polish" which feeds the paint lost oils and removes more surface materials. I didn't do step 3 which is the wax, but after the 1st 2 steps the car was smooth like glass and has a very glossy look, now i have to seal in that shine!

What are you talkin about? I have looked at a bunch of other 95's and they all seem to be in the same spot. I ran a carfax report and there were no accidents reported on this car. I know it was only 1 other owner besides myslef and they did regular maintence on the car [ according to car fax dealer reports] but no accidents!

Congrats on your new ride! if you want to make a slick gutterguard metal grille check my homepage for pics.

Now About those emblems...

See how the letters M A X I M A are on an invisible line between the upper and lower halves of the tailights? if you drew an imaginary horizontal line between the clear/amber and red sections. The letters should rest on this line.

Your letters are far higher than that, implying that they have been removed and put back on. This could be from someone just shaving the emblems off (quite a popular smooth look) or a sign of rear end damage. Also your "hamburger" seems about 2 centimeters high from where it should be.

At any rate, get a ypipe and CAI or hybrid and awaken the potential of your vq30.

haha, yea I know. But it was my first car/first week of ownership, and my car got dirty (thick layer of dirt on surface of car) when I went to work. I couldn't stand her being dirty...

Nice find.
That thing looks really good.

Make sure you get some wax on that paint to protect it.
I use the same Maguiar's stuff....it works great!

Got it from pepe boys yesterday and it was $4.99 per bottle x 3 bottles [step 1,2 & 3] so $15.00 + tx. I also bought those microfibre towels ,which are awesome by the way, some 100% terry cloth towels ,wax applicators, leather cobditioner and tire black stuff, came out to $58.00 + 5 hrs of labor, but well worth it.
