Head Lights Lamp Problem

Hi guys,

I just noticed that my head lights lamps are malfunctioning. On the normal on setting, only the bulb on the right turns on. The left lamp doesn't.

When I switch it to high beam, both lamps light fine.
I don't see why it wouldn't light up on one setting, unless they use different relays for each lamp and each setting.

Has anyone encountered such a problem or may have suggestions as to what may be wrong? Any help on this is appreciated

Thanks in advance.

Maybe the bulb is messed up? Not sure if it's possible but did you bother to switch the bulbs between the headlights?

Not yet. Its pretty dark where I am at right now.

Since the bulb works on high beams I assumed it wasn't a problem with the bulb. I will switch them and try it in the morning.. THanks

Apparently each lamp has 2 filaments, one for regular both on for high beam.

The regular on setting filament is blown.

I had PIAA 9004/HB1. Know of a place to get good replacements for those?

As you found out - the bulb has two filaments - and the low beam filament has blown. Call around your favorite auto stores...or just replace both sides with whatever variety is available locally.

Those 9004 PIAA are mad $$$. ****e.

My roomate had a max and got those lamps, but before he went away, he left the bulbs back. The right thing to do was to claim those night lamps for free.

people are getting stock 9007 bulbs and doing some kind of conversion, say they are much better than 9004, maybe you should do that.

OMG i had one confusing morning when both low beams blew out at the same time. I was without lows and i thought i popped a fuse. stupid rice blue bulbs. never once have i seen 2 bulbs blow together.

I recommend the Sylvania Xtravisions for a great upgrade while retaining stock color. Yes i have 9007, and i would never go back to 9004.

PIAA is $$$$ but owners say its money well spent.

unfortunately i got sylvania 9004 silverstars. I may just pick up a 9007 pair soon when i feel like buying something again, in a month.

From the PIAA, to el cheapo sylvania, I do not see a justification for 50 bux more spent on PIAA.

I have one PIAA bulb that is good, but no good to me.
