Just curious what people think the best rpm is to shift at under normal driving conditions, and what gear is best for around 65-70 mph (55 mph speed limts suck), 3.5k rpm in 4th or almost 3k in 5th?

 

if you're not accelerating you should probably be in a higher gear to keep fuel consumption down and to prolong the life of your engine..

if you cruised at 3700RPM for 10 years instead of putting it into 5th and ~ 3000RPM .. lets say that was like 100k miles over 10 years, which would be very litte driving in itself, just imagine how many more revolutions your engine made and how much more fuel you used.

it might not seem like a lot for a 10 minute cruise on a road, but it adds up if you drive that way consistently for years and years...

 

Depends on how much gas you want to use.

How I drive is I shift at 3K usually 2.5K but 3 at the most when I'm around the city, that should get you moving pretty fast and keep you moving.

When traveling for long distance make sure your in your highest gear for reasons already stated. . . better gas milage plus less wear on the car.
