Auto to Manual

Hi,

I am new here and I have a couple of questions.

1st - Is there a "search" feature in this Forum? I cannot find one. So, I am sorry if the following question has been asked.

2nd - I am looking to get a Maxima. It will be a 4th Gen. But, the problem I am running into is that all the 4th Gen Maximas that I see out there for sale are automatics. I was wanting to get a manual. So my question is - How hard/expensive is it to swap out the automatic transmission and put in a manual?

Thanks for the help.

Ok
1) there is no search unless you donate money....
2) You can do a swap, but it will take about a week and about a grand to complete it, that inculdes finding all the parts at the junkyard....

It will only cost about a grand to do? Does this mean, a grand to do it myself, or about a grand to have someone else do it for me? I am not too sure that I would trust doing it myself.

more than a grand for someone else to do it. best is to find one that is already a 5spd. many of us get lucky (including myself) fully loaded SE 5spd, and its hard to find one.
good luck in finding one and welcome to the org.

I saw the write-up in the FAQ, but that was to do it yourself, correct. Like I said, I don't think that I would trust myself doing it myself. How much is the average cost of having a pro do it?

not worth it IMO. if youre stock - sell it and buy a manual. unless you have a hook-up and/or the ability to do it yourself, its not worth the money and hassle.

Yo bro if you are a mechanic or have a master mechanic then do it.. But this is not an easy thing to do. Its actually quite hard and I wanna do it but I see all the **** that has to be done and I think.. Damn something bad could happen if you mess up.

Now best idea I have heard is trade yours in on a new one with a manaual.
