Can a new suspension help performance?

I'm just curious to see if a new suspension (struts, springs) would help or hurt performance. Obviously it does a hell of a lot to the handling aspect of the car, but does it effect performance?

Thanks,
Dan

it makes your car more aerodynamic and you get to to stop and accelerate faster. but ppl get it mostly because of the improved handling.

Handling would be part of performance. I went and did the whole thing..shocks, struts, springs, fstb, rear sways. It rides on freakin rails. The stock suspension was way too sloppy in my opinion. Felt out of control at times. With a better suspension, the car will feel better when you push it, and is easier to do so. Gives you more confidence on the ability of the car. The driver is another story. Do it..you will love it.

the better your suspension...the better times you will run in the 1/4 and improved handling...but it won't improve your 1/4 all that much though...maybe .02 -.05 of a second...but im pretty sure it varies with differnet setups

Suspension can mean lots of things. The stiffer springs will prevent some squat offering better accel & braking. Bushings will prevent the motor rocking allowing the tires to grab better. Lowering the car helps both the CG and aerodynamics (some). Coilovers for instance are much lighter than stock again offering better accel & braking. Same with with the wheels & tires.
