exhaust question(does this make it sound rice)

Hello All,

In looking at this exhaust, the piece inside of the muffler is the silencer correct? why is it so small? I remember when a memeber was posting about their catman exhaust that stuck out too far it have a piece this this one inside but was much wider and close to the side of the exhaust exit.

is this small piece inside responcible for that ricy sound? especially when it gets high in the rpms?

I know not having a silencer causes that sounds as well.

Every exhaust sounds different, but in general or from what i have noticed is that the cars with the silencer tend to sound more higher pitched and the cars without the silencers sound deeper(also louder).

if you wanna buy a catback exhaust, the cattman one is good, the sp2 is good...or you could just do what a lot do is a custom 2.5" catback and universal muffler.

silencers only really come for those types of mufflers.. like the bazooka style or whatever they call it..or fireball for some brands i dunno..

Get a good muffler and you wont need a damn silencer, the sound, look, and are just plain cheap...

interesting responces.

in the picture there are 3 (or 4) long rounder rectangle like openings, I'm assuming they open and aid in producing a better sound?

I know myself like many others on here, wish we could afford the truely nice parts for our cars, but sadly I am not as fortunate as other but creative and resourceful enough to compensate for that so I will get a set up that sounds fantastic and cost me at least half of what other paid. If I had a steady income and a decent amount trust me, I would have Greddy, Cattman, etc would be blessing my car all over, but until then ... I will make do.
