extra sensor on my '96?

Installed a Frankencar intake over the weekend on a '96. There is another plug that went to a sensor on the side of the stock intake that doesn't appear to have a place to plug into with the new intake. It is right near the plug that goes into the MAF. What is this for and does it need to be plugged in to the part of the stock intake? Also, my CEL is on, is this because it isn't plugged in? The MAF is plugged in.

That's the intake air temperature sensor. You can zip tie it to something so it stays put and doesn't get tossed around. Doesn't need to be inside the intake.

Like Dave said you can just zip tie it somewhere. However, you'll need to remove the sensor from the stock air box, plug it back into the harness and then zip tie it somewhere. You're getting the CEL because the ECU isn't seeing the sensor and therefor has a problem with it.
