signs of a bad motor mount(s)?

i know easiest thing to do is just replace and see if problem continues but its not an easy job for a noob like me.

Here are symptoms:

Drivability sucks. Well not really, it just sucks engaging first gear. It has gotten better but its still bad. If i were to slowly let off the gas, right before car is about to stall (wont but i guess right before its fully ready to be completely let off clutch) i get massive chatter. I let my friend drive my car and i can actually see the driver side wheel vibrate quickly when this happens. I guess both sides vibrate.

Also when i shift into second hard at high rpms (lower rpms is fine), i get a massive thump sound, like car wants to just rip in half or something.

Also if i do a hard shift in 4th or 5th gear at mid to low rpms, i get a funny jerk.

When swap was done, i was told my lower motor mounts, mainly the back one is in sh*t condition but i was driving before with same mounts and didnt have such a bad problem.

If i rev high (2k rpm) and let off clutch in a certain way, it comes out smooth but car kind of leaps forward cause of heavy rev. For the longest i thought it was my clutch (spec stage II) but a lot of people arent having the massive chatter like i have, plus i drove a friends aCt stage II and his car is just as smooth as mine was when i had the exedy stage I. The boot on my passenger side axle is bad and has been bad for the longest. Maybe this nasty chatter is coming from axles and not the mounts?

does this really sound like mount issues alone? i do get wheel hop but its not serious and only comes during wet weather. I'm trying to think of more scenario's i run into....

it just boggles my mind cause if i slowly, i mean very slowly let off the clutch with no gas, i should get no major movement from my engine/tranny due to bad mounts....it should be still smooth. No matter what it always happens at the exact same spot, right when i'm about to completely let off teh clutch, right when the sh*t catches....every other gear is perfect, its just first that sucks so bad.

btw i have 2100 miles on my clutch so it should have broken in by now and besides stupid throttle position sensor issue (idle at 1500-2k rpm constantly), i havent beaten on the clutch until 900 miles...

Had the same problem, check the condition of your MAF....I also changed Motor Mounts, and that didn't solve it, maybe a little but a new MAF fixed it

do sloppy clutches go away? i tried two different MAF's when i had 2k rpm limiter issue, i dont think its that. What causes a sloppy clutch? bad break in?

ROFL, I was told during the summer that my rear mount was done for.. i had it replaced and noticed little to no sense of ribration coming from the engine.. it just seems like the car isnt on at all. I still hear something hit when i put my car into gear. I have a good feeling its the front mount. I did the earser mod. which is simple buy some long eraser and stuff your mounts with them. I did the drivers side mount. I honestly think my front mount is to blame for this little bang i hear when i engage into gear. Hope that helps you.

The motor mount is a steel bushing bonded in the center of a piece of rubber, which is then inside the mounting bracket. That rubber will starter to tear and crack when it goes bad.

im experiencing the same thing, i think its due to a few things, one- motor mounts, two- end link bushings, three- strut bearings but not so much those for that chatter.
