All the switch does is open the circuit between the speed sensor and the ecu. Flipping the switch while driving is the same, as far as the ecu is concerned, as if the speed sensor had failed. You will get the code but it will not affect drivability. (except that you now speed "unlimited")

You can do it on the fly. You won't get a CEL unless you leave the switch flipped for an extended period of time. If you only do it for 20 seconds to outrun that crazy person with the gun who is chasing you threatening your life, you won't get a CEL

What's the probability that 20 seconds is enough time to find out the top speed after going over the "limit" or enough time for getting away from the crazy person.

If limiter is set at 115 mph and the crazy person was driving my old car he'd catch up ('90 mazda 626)

Since were on the subject....

Can you just place an ECU from a 5spd SE or GLE with no problem or is there, concerns because of the diffrent options with each model? There are very few times I can see myself going over 115 but if I am missing out on an extra 30+mph I still want that option.

Schematically the engine control system is the same for SE, GXE and GLE. There is only one wiring diagram in the FSM. The only difference, in the case of the GXE, the ecu uses the speed sensor input to limit top speed.

I have had three different ECUs in my car from both SE and GXE models and there are no drivability differences.
