Is it possible to steal a '99 Max SE

Hey guys,

i was just wondering if it was possible for someone to steal a 99 Max with the computer chip key. i only ask because i hate having the club, but i really dont want to risk anything if i am left vulnerable. IMO i don't think its possible. Do you guys think theres a way to bypass the immobilzer system? If so, i think i'm going to invest in a multilock shifter....no1 can rip through those

If they want it, they'll get it. Unless, you personally have something to do with it by being there/seeing it.

I personally think the best way to prevent Auto theft is a Manual Fuel cut off switch hidden in your car.

Rewire the fuel pump fuse to a hidden switch and it's nearly impossible for someone to drive away with your car thats what I have but I also have a Pager Alarm system when someone breaks in my car the pager will beep or vibrate and tell me what door trunk window is being vandalized. I actually caught a bum in the act trying to break in my car one late night. I was playing GT3 and my pager went off I ran to the window and I saw a guy near my car. I ran outside he saw me and started running I immediately went back inside got my gizzzle fo shizzzle and ran back outside chased the bum around the block but it was to late he was gone. The next day someone in the same complex got robbed. I don't know what to tell you there's nothing you can do there's always going to be that idiot robber trying to steal your car nothing you can do but at least you know they can't drive away with your car with this setup.

anyone trying a simpley easy job I'm sure wont get pass the immobilizer, but that wont stop them from stealing your clear corners or tails, or head unit, etc.

sad, but we cant have nice things withouth worrying that it may not be there in the morning.

I'm glad I dont live in NY, bad *** city, especially the Bronx. . .

Well if your within 100ft of your car with the pager alarm you will know if someone is toeing your car. Next I will have it connected to my cell phone.

this is why i'm reluctant to put some 18" evo5's on my max....attracts too much attention. i actually had some1 follow me for about a half a mile just to ask me what i had under the hood (all i have is a frankencar intake)...kinda freaked me out any1 would do that...

why does ny have to have so many crooks!! bastards....

My 99 was broken into (Queens), ignition column was popped but it was still there. This was before I had the Clifford alarm so the immobolizer helped do something.

Clifford is the best.... I was looking into the Multi-lock aswell who has one? And its true If someone really wanted it... They would take it... Im just looking out for the joy riders and crackheads...

Another thing... GPS is better than Lo-Jack... Thats if you guys were looking into them. The lo-jack only tracks the car to an area that about a few square blocks compared to GPS that tracks it exact location... Dont quote me but thats what Ive heard...

There is a bypass for the immobilizer used by alarm shops to put in remote starts, else '99s couldn't have remote starts (or any cars with chipped keys). But it's hardly a plug and go system.

The Multilock for the shifter is crap, my friends Galant was stolen and found stripped about 10 days later. The thieves had cut the shifter shaft, not the Multilock and were able to shift it into drive that way.

The Club is a joke, they'll just cut the steering wheel with a hacksaw or bolt cutter in no time at all and just slip it off.

The Autolock that goes on the brake pedal MAY work on some cars but other cars still let you shift out of park without depressing the brake pedal or have a bypass and you can always drive away using the E-brake.

If it goes on the clutch however it's pretty good as the car can't be started without depressing the clutch and both the clutch pedal and the Autolock are pretty solid pieces of metal not easily cut.

But in the end, the BEST setup for any car is a fuel pump cut off switch and/or a starter cut off switch. One switch can do both or have 2 switches, one for each. Not handy with wires... no problem, take the fuel pump fuse out every night. Thieves won't think it's missing, they'll think it's your alarm doing it or a hidden switch.

No matter what, thieves will get your car, flatbed and it's gone. The only thing you can do is make your car the hardest target possible so they'll choose a softer target where they have a higher chance of getting away.

There are alarm systems out there you can have put in that have GPS so even if it's flatbedded, you can track your car yourself immediately without having to wait for police to respond or have systems activated.

I use the pager system. I've never had an incident down here in Hawaii (prolly cuz they can't drive it anywhere really and all the dump spots are monitored by cops now). But the pager system looks nice compared to the regular remote system.

They are both two very different technologies. LoJack is based on obsolete technology that only a few police departments have. If you have LoJack and your car is stolen, its necessary for PD to find a patrol car with the LoJack detector installed. That can take a while versus GPS (satellite tracking) that is always available, and with differential GPS receivers you can get down to a few feet.

Wow... I didnt know that you could still shift the car If The shifter was cut off??? It could also be because of the way It was installed. If there is too much room under the Multi-Lock than that would be the problem since its easy to cut and shift... Anyway... fact is there is always a way around anything... If they really want it than Its gone...

But as with the Fuel cut off switch, what If we have remote start??? Than that features out the door??? And I love that the car's warmed-up and ready to go in these cold winters in NYC...

How about the Auto-Lock/Multilock Combo??? Double the trouble

Do what i do, park that bich in the garage. or well you cant do it with our cars, but take one of the spark plug wires off the distributor to the plug. honestly im just bull****ing, if they want it theyll take it, soooo many cars around here have been stolen its not funny. they take cars out off ppls driveways and garages, my friend with his turbointegra, he had it in the garage, with an explorer in front the garage, they moved the truck and took the car. my other boy had his **** stolen right infront the club. i would say the most cars targeted around my way are ANY cars with LS motors

I did and only bussiness guys and old ladys drive Maximas here. Nobody mods Maximas here, so no one is interested in stealing your MAx. Plus, you can get tha parts cheap at the junkyards. The down side is that the tuning shops don't have much for the MAx, but I recently got the K&N cold filter and NGK iridiums as well as Mobil 1

Its bad here in California too. They'll steal anything in your car. I used to reposes cars (many years ago) and you don't even have to have a flat bed. I drove one of those hydraulic-arm type tow truck where you'd back up into a car and the arms will catch the front or rear wheels, lock it up, and you pull away clean and clear! I don't even have to try to open the car and put it in drive or take the e-brake off. I'll drag that **** a few blocks away, and then engage all the safety straps. As for alarms, I have never had an incident where the owner was awaken by the alarm and came out to stop me. We'll even if they did, we can call for PD assistance and the response is usually within a few minutes. Also, we usually carry a sidearm (legally) if our lives are threatened but that is last resort.

In short, nothing is theft proof or even repo-proof! It all just depends on how badly that person wants it. But I will try the fuel / starter cut-off switch.

hehe the sadistic way to do it, put razor blades inside the drivers side door handle. first thing most theives do is try to open the door, and if they dont, they truly are dumb, but i figure that would be a deterrance for him and any of his buddies..., and hed probably be in too much pain or just plain pissed to try to take the car

HAHA, I was actually thinking about this too. However, this is a bad accident waiting to happen which can happen to the owner and those who are unsuspecting, they don't even have to be a car thief. You know how you just realized that you might have locked your car keys in your car and just on impulse pull on your door handles w/o thinking it.... bye bye fingers!

Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Michigan all went for Kerry so don't blame the Midwest. It was the South, the Great Plains states, Texass, and the mountain states.

But on the other hand... I crashed my 3rd Gen after hitting a giant pothole around 4AM... When I came back to tow it in the morning around 8:30AM, people already tried to pry out my back seat (non-reclining) and pop my trunk lock to get to the trunk but they were unsucessful... Dumb @zz
crackheads... they did take my Puerto Rican flag and threw it outside of the car... now that was wrong...
